Harper, Seager are great but irrelevant until Exit Velocity is fixed
-
As infuriating as this game is with all the issues I have, exit velocities are fine. Better than last year at Shield Woods where people were getting sub 90mph exit velo home runs.
-
@tear4eddy_PSN My Perfect/Perfect 107 EV 27 Degree LA with Moonshot Grandal that Died at the wall in Dead Center would disagree.
-
I don't think it's EV itself but rather the randomness of this game. You can square up a perfect perfect and get an 82 EV or get get 107 EV and I guess that's appropriate. Where people get frustrated is how many of those Good/Good and Perfect/Perfect have low EV. Someone mentioned the pitching and absolutely the CPU pitching is bizarre this year. There is no doubt in my mind that it's done by design to prevent grinding to quickly while blowing through maps, mini seasons, and diamond quest because the difference between veteran in those modes as opposed to veteran in a regular vs CPU game is night and day. You'll see a lot of 1-0 or similarly low scoring games in those modes but go play vs CPU 9 inning game and you'll put up 20+ hits and 10+ runs. I hit 3 HR in one game with Seager not long ago grinding the program. So in my opinion, everyone is right here. EV isn't broken it's just a matter of what mode you play and how much you'll be rewarded or not for patience and good timing.

Not only CPU pitching, but I think the over-performing CPU fielding is making EV seem worse than it actually is. I'm constantly getting perfect/perfect line drives up the middle snagged by the CPU SS as if he's playing with a 125 reaction speed rating. Same goes for line drives over 1B (feels like he's already jumping as soon as contact is made) or ground balls between 1B and 2B being robbed by a diving 2B.
-
Talk about missing the mark. All the two cards mentioned do is hit bombs.
-
I'm not saying you're not...but there is a huge number of people who have experienced what he's talking about. There's a ton of stuff that just dies on the track, even P/P's with 100+ EV and 31-35 degree LA's.
That being said...it isn't hard to avoid that. By default on the higher difficulties I look down in the zone, but I've noticed pitchers staying higher this year...adjusted my PCI accordingly and it's tank city.
@Ledfoot_19_PSN I agree with your take on CPU pitching, it's egregiously inconsistent, even on the above mentioned higher difficulties. And the CPU fielding 100% needs a bit of nerfing, they consistently play above their fielding.
-
@DodgerMatt93_NSW CPU defense is absolutely OP. It's like the folks at SDS have never watched an mlb baseball game. 85-90% of grounders on the infield with a runner at first base are double plays...The CPU makes makes WAY too many diving plays...The lightning fast catch to throw speed the CPU possesses is something players can't even accomplish when loading up.
-
Not every hard hit ball makes it out of the park; someone mentioned a 107mph shot at 27 degrees that didn't make it out... while that particular combo is almost always a homerun, sometimes it isn't; there's still a 6% chance that it's an out in MLB ballparks. Angles in the 30s are often too steep; a 105mph ball hit at 30 degrees resulted in an out 14% of the time. Push that to 35 degrees? It's an out over 28% of the time.
Lots of crying, but not a lot of looking into what actually happens to batted balls in real life situations. The game's finally getting it right, and people are losing their minds.
Also, people keep saying they "squared it up," but if you didn't get a P/P, you didn't square it up.

@The_Joneser_PSN Don't forget that the wind plays a role as well! It sucks playing when the wind blows directly in from CF at 8 or 9 mph! Everything dies and nothing leaves the park, even at Coors Field! If playing vs CPU, I will quit if I get that much wind blowing in!

@tear4eddy_PSN i don't think people realize it's quite easy to go see someone's game history and see that what they think is happening really isn't.
-
Not reading through all the comments, but I do agree that “warning track power” seems to be the norm this year. I’m not saying anything needs to be adjusted per se, because maybe it is actually better that way, or it’s possibly just because the cards aren’t as juiced as they were by this point the last couple years. But to pretend like we aren’t all or mainly most of us seeing warning track balls is deceitful. We just don’t all have to agree as to why it’s happening or whether or not it needs to be changed.

@GixxerRyder750_PSN those inputs result in HR’s 94% of the time in MLB. But you hit it to dead center, so that would explain why you fell in the 6% of failures. Perfect example of the product working properly.

Here are the Statcast stats on that. The average is a little lower just based on 2025 data with 88.2% being HRs (17 events - 15 HRs and 2 Outs). The average distance is 408 which is not a HR to dead center in like 12 MLB parks (and wall scrapers in several others)

I think the issue is actually the lack of variations in hits. We’ve all had that game where back to back to back batters all hit the ball different pci with good timing and the ball goes to exact same place.
-
@VioletNine9_XBL yes yes ...this
-
I believe Judge hit 110 mph flyball out to center , the ball just died . They are blaming it on higher seems .

@RealMessiah_XBL That's the thing with cpu fielding that always irks me. If it's someone with legit good-great defense I could live with that but anyone lower than a gold defense making gold glove plays constantly gets on my nerves. Outfielder's playing deep who have poor reaction timing making shoestring catches that should drop in for a one hop. It's been years since I've had a poor cpu fielder drop a fly ball because they weren't in the right position or got a bad jump. I miss Matt V call "he drops it".

It's funny to me that some people forget that pitchers have ratings as well that affect exit velo some pitchers you have to be really squared up that little dot has to be perfect
