MLB 25 power creep: 88 Overall cards IN JUNE AND THE BEST CARD IS IN A CHASE PACK IN JUUUUUUUUNE!!!!!!!!!
Hope they make the All-Star Game cards 99s as an apology to the community

Terrible idea. The power creep is going at a perfect pace currently.

@Tylerslikewhoa_XBL
No , it is going at an awful pace -
I don't think the pace is the problem, but the design is. Today's content is a step back and almost completely useless. When the last two major drops are both literally, not just comparatively, better, something is going wrong. Power creep should be stairs, not a roller coaster.

@Invinitee_XBL i went and had a look at 21 as i downloaded it last year programs are so much better in 21 but this year the content isnt great a 98 schwarber was elite where at the moment we are getting 92s

I recently went back as far as The Show 20 to see how the present-day power creep compared since that game had a pretty meticulous pace to its content rollout.
The 4th Inning program dropped on May 29, 2020 which corresponds to where we are at right now in The Show 25. In that release, the three boss cards were Jacoby Ellsbury (96), Felix Hernandez (96) and Joe Torre (98) so even back then the overalls were advancing at a much faster rate than they currently are.
I don't think the slower progression is necessarily the issue. The bigger problem people are having with the game and primarily this new Pipeline series is the fact that it is essentially a regression compared to some other recent content since you can argue that the grindable cards from previous programs such as Moonshot and Color Blast are superior. And because there is such an emphasis on the collection cards within the program as well as the Chase, people don't appreciate the mindless grind to get weaker cards than we got for free over the last month.
The Moncada/Gallo cards are solid and two very popular names when it comes to The Show lore, but the fact remains if you want the BEST cards from the program drop you have to shell out a ton of stubs. Most people won't have that Seager for a while so it is deflating putting in the time to acquire the fodder knowing you don't have a chance to get the main reward card anytime soon. I play a lot and still don't even have Buxton because it requires you to lock in at least one very expensive card.
-
The 88s and 90s are essentially henchman, the difference is now you have to buy the henchman with stubs instead of acquiring them through gameplay
I like the 88s and 90s, I just hate using stubs for something that would have been earnable in 2023 and prior.

@mietha_MLBTS Well said. The other problem I have is the best cards are always the same players. We’re constantly getting guys like Schwarber and Gallo.
-
Game hasn’t even been out for 3 months and we are up to 95’s on the market. Pacing has been perfect. Other sports titles would be at 90-92 right now at the highest
-
@Tylerslikewhoa_XBL I thought the pacing was perfect until we got a bunch of 87/88’s. This drop is collection fodder aside from the pack cards and collection which require pack cards. These guys should have at least been on par with the 91/92’s we just got from color storm.
-
Sets and seasons we'd have 99s already. Just saying.

This … It should be a real creep, these 88 should not have happened

@Tylerslikewhoa_XBL What? We got 99 Overall cards in TA for the All-Star Game and that brought so many players back to the game
-
@Tylerslikewhoa_XBL 95's? So there are free 95 Overall cards in June? The last time I heard about this is when I saw that Vladdy Jr is in a Chase Pack and we can't unlock 95 Sosa until June 30th!
