Road to the Show – No Promotion to Triple-A or MLB Despite Top Performance
-
Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing what I believe is a bug in MLB The Show 25 while playing Road to the Show. I’ve created my player, gone through the amateur stages, and performed extremely well during the full season in Double-A.
Despite being ranked as the top prospect in both the organization and the league, and even seeing visual cues in the calendar that seemed to indicate a promotion, I never advanced to Triple-A or MLB. The coach repeatedly said I wasn’t ready, even though all stats and rankings suggested otherwise.
I restarted the career mode three different times, following the same path and achieving similarly high performance, but every time I ended up stuck in Double-A with no promotion.
This issue did not happen in previous versions like The Show 23 or The Show 24. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a known issue?
Thanks in advance for any help or insights!

What position are you playing, and for what team? Those three times you restarted, was it the same position for the same team?
I ask because, generally, the game isn't going to promote you based on how well you perform, but according to your rating. If the person you would be replacing in MLB/AAA has a higher rating than you, you probably won't jump the roster. I've had it happen a few times, but I was always fairly close to the overall of the other player, maybe +/- 3 points. When it's close like that, it does seem like the game, at that point, begins to take your performance into consideration. I've started 6 position player careers now and not once played a full season in AA. The only time I did was when playing a closer.
All that to say, hey, it could very well be a bug, but I suspect you're playing for the same team at the same position each time you've restarted.

I agree with every word. The only exception I’ve found is when you’re playing the same position as the face of the team (ex. Aaron Judge Bryce Harper Mike Trout). It doesn’t really matter how well you play, you’ll never replace the faces of the franchises. You also won’t ever replace anyone with an OVR that’s higher than 85. The best way to progress is to find a team with a weakness in the position you want to play.
I love playing shortstop so I chose Boston because Trevor Story and David Hamilton’s OVRs were fairly low and I knew I could replace them. I totally skipped AAA and was promoted to the MLB after I reached 74 OVR. I really wanted to play for the Royals, but there was no way I could uproot Bobby Witt so I knew I couldn’t be in that organization.
I know you’ve grinded but you need to start over and find a team with a weakness in the position you want to play. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Hi Guys, thanks for yours reply,
I am currently playing as a Two-Way Player as Starting Pitcher (SP) and Second Baseman (2B).
I’ve been drafted multiple times by different teams after restarting my career several times, 6 or 7 times. In one instance, I even requested a trade to my manager, hoping that might help with my progression.
Despite my high performance and top prospect status in each case, I’ve never been promoted to Triple-A or MLB. I always remain stuck in Double-A, even after a full season with excellent stats.
Could be this issue may be related to a bug affecting career progression for Two-Way Players ?
in-fact, one of several questions from my coach was related to change role/positionThanks!
