I’m legitimately wondering if directional is better at the 700+ level I’m RS. Tried it as a joke and have been having way more success. This game is in such a horrendous state. I don’t think I’ve seen a video game company have any less of a clue of what they are doing than sds
no bs or exaggeration? you're actually having more success with directional? I may have to try it
It’s a small sample size but yes it’s been better. Haven’t used directional since I first started playing many years ago

Out of frustration during the last few RS games I begrudgingly switch to directional in hopes of actually making good contact. After the switch, timing doesn't become an issue anymore. But shortly after I am pushed to switching back to zone because of constant good timing swings being whiffed right down the middle, time and time again. I'm a lost cause right now.
-
I’m one of the minority who actually use and prefer directional. Don’t crucify me lol. I just never got the hang of zone. Directional is so much easier for me.
-
How does that directional hitting works exactly? You just press the buttton or you have to aim with left stick also? I have some success with analog hitting but not so much with directional.
In hall of fame difficulty there is no chance I could hit with zone -
Directional you are just pressing "X". Its all really a dice roll if you time your timing up right. If factors in ratings more than user input. It's good for a offline franchise if you're trying to play sim.
-
I think it's just that hitting is broken man. I played a dude earlier, his 86 mantle card hit a bomb on a pitch below the zone with "just early/ okay" swing result. Then my 99 mantle hit a "good/good" ball down the middle with pretty much perfectly centered and low placement for a routine flyball.

The end of his rant is an exaggeration, so...

In hall of fame difficulty there is no chance I could hit with zoneAll you have to do is time it right and press your swing button. I NEVER power or contact swing, all I use is X. Also you can move your stick to the left right or up for center to try and “aim” your release. I always just aim towards the batters pull side. I know it’s not a giant sample size and also note I’m not a 700+ RS caliber player but last year I went like 32-16 and this year so far I’m 9-0. Just try it out and go with what you feel is comfortable and what you play better on. Hope that helps

I’ve been having success with analog lol I’ve tried using zone and I just couldn’t get it down, especially with practice and whatnot.
-
I love directional hitting. You don’t have that ugly pci on the screen so the game looks better. It’s definitely a more realistic way to play.

Same. I've been playing this game for years and every season I try to make the jump to zone and I just can't seem to do it. Mostly online I will use pure analog, but every once in a while if somebody's coming down the middle a lot I will switch back to directional.
-
Directional hitters are the reason why this game is forcing pitches down the middle this year. It’s to help you guys out. There’s no other reason why Perfect release pitches are being forced over the middle.
It’s also the reason why they haven’t “fixed” it.
-
Its sad that this is where the state of this game is right now.
-
lol I wouldn’t even try. Way too many flaws if you’re trying to be competitive online. Easy to exploit people who use it. Zone is the only way imo.

How would you exploit them?

Hit the edges and corners you’ll never square up

Directional hitters fade out on HOF, and are almost irrelevant on legend . It’s just hell playing them on all star .

Especially when the game forces your pitches over the middle. It’s like it’s on purpose to cater to them.

I won’t complain about it , it is what it is. Tbh though I’m not even sure how it’s an option , not having to put your pci on the ball is weird for a baseball game. You should have to locate the ball and swing .
