I want to get into ranked Seasons after Weekend Classic. Does anyone have tips?

On All-Star and lower use pitchers that can dot…Maddux, Pettite, Glavine, ect….HOF & up use pitchers with the outlier quirk.
Take alot of pitches or else people will throw nothing but balls. Other than those two things - Have fun & don’t take it too seriously.

As Irish said, DON’T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. Use it to complete programs (MP programs, PXP missions and pile up XP) and to get better. If you lose or get frustrated, do something else for awhile.
I’m a mediocre online player and this is the first year I’ve been enjoying it because of this approach. I got close to WS one year and nearly went insane and didn’t play much more than a dozen MP games per year since until this year.

I'm a not-great player and I don't want to have to fight lag/latency in addition to my lack of skill. If you're not aware already, you can gauge the quality of you and opponent's network connection on the screen where you select your pitcher. Scroll through your pitchers, and if you can scroll smoothly then it's usually a good connection. If the scrolling lags, then you can be sure the game will, too. Back out and get another game.
In addition to that little tip I'd suggest taking pitches until they throw a strike, at least through 1 inning. Check the pitcher analysis (Pause screen>Game Stats>Pitcher Analysis, iirc) after one time through the order to see what pitches they're throwing more often and sit on those.
