Pulled while pitching perfect game
-
Ended the 7th inning, working on a perfect game, 71 pitches thrown, about half energy left, and I was relieved at the start of the 8th. ?? Why would you pull a pitcher working on a NoNo... ever??
-
Just happened to me after 8 perfect innings. Had just struck out the last batter, it's so stupid.

Ironic, or perhaps not ironic at all but merely part of the yelling cabal here, that this thread gets started within a few days of someone else starting a thread in the same sub-forum gripping that pitchers "never" get relieved. It can't be both situations -- getting pulled despite pitching a no-hitter or perfect game, and yet the same game "never" relieves pitchers.
So, what is the deal really?
Here is a list of real world baseball situations where starting pitchers were relieved despite throwing a perfect game or no-hitter when relieved, and the relief corps combined for the no-hitter or perfect game:
4 Sep 2024: Shota Imanaga, Nate Pearson, Porter Hodge for the Cubs vs Pirates. Cubs win 12-0
8 Jul 2023: Matt Manning, Jason Foley, Alex Lange for the Tigers vs Jays, Tigers win 2-0
2 Nov 2022: Cristian Javier, Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero, Ryan Pressly for the Astros vs Phillies in World Series, Astros win 5-0

29 Apr 2022: Tylor Megill, Drew Smith, Joely Rodriquez, Seth Lugo, Edwin Diaz for the Mets vs Phillies, Mets win 3-0
11 Sep 2021: Corbin Burnes, Josh Hader for the Brewers vs Indians, Brewers win 3-0
24 Jun 2021: Zach Davies, Ryan Tepera, Andrew Chafin, Craig Kimbrel for the Cubs vs Dodgers, Cubs win 4-0
3 Aug 2019: Aaron Sanchez, Will Harris, Joe Biagini, Chris Devenski for the Astros vs Mariners, Astros win 9-0
4 May 2018: Walker Beuhler, Tony Cingrani, Yimi Garcia, Adam Liberatore for the Dodgers vs Padres, Dodgers win 4-0

8 Jun 2012: Kevin Millwood, Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge, Brandon League, Tom Wilhelmsen for the Mariners vs Dodgers, Mariners win 1-0
11 Jun 2003: Roy Oswalt, Pete Munro, Kirk Saarloos, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel, Billy Wagner for the Astros versus Yankees, Astros win 8-0
12 Jul 1997: Francisco Cordova, Ricardo Rincon for the Pirates vs Astros, Pirates win 3-0
11 Sep 1991: Kent Mercker, Mark Wohlers, Alejandro Pena for the Braves vs Padres, Braves win 1-0
13 Jul 1991: Bob Milacki, Mike Flanagan, Mark Williamson, Gregg Olson for the Orioles vs Athletics, Orioles win 2-0
11 Apr 1990: Mark Langson, Mike Witt for the Angels vs Mariners, Angels win 1-0There are other examples dating from as far back as far as 1917 when Babe Ruth started but didn't finish the first inning and was relieved by Ernie Shore who combined for a 4-0 Red Sox win over the Washington Senators.
There have been 326 no-hitters or perfect games played in the history of American professional major league baseball. Of those, 21 featured multiple pitchers to complete the game.
Yet, you assert outrage that this is replicated in MLB The Show. You ask why this would ever happen? Well, there seems to be 21 perfectly valid reasons in real life why it does happen! So, I conclude that is the game code is doing this sometimes in RTTS, then it's replicating true to life MLB outcomes.
-
It's bull. Didn't happen on 24'. This is a video game at the end of the day. I don't understand this change
-
I would think someone should have had the foresight to understand that this would aggravate anyone playing an RTTS game, which is fantasy. I doubt, very much, anyone that this happens to, says "Oh wow man...that's was So cool, they replicated real life and ruined the last 30-60 mins of my fun experience by pulling my pitcher with one out left in my no hitter!" I can't wait for that to happen again!
-
@Casualy-Hardcor_XBL Litterly what's been happening to me, like the first few times I pitched I got pulled then they stopped pulling me, I get sent up to AAA, I get pulled on my debut when I was throwing a NoNo heading into the ninth.. Like you just ruined my 2nd biggest moment in the game! like who would take out a Pitcher making her debut, throws a NoNo into the 9th with a lot of energy left. Sad noises. Look I get it, I like being relieved at times but other times, it's like LET ME FINISH MY NONO or LET ME GET COMPLETE GAME XP I need it to get to the majors rofl. I just feel there should be a better AI for that.

@Konekogirl_PSN I'm looking a bit because I was like...."whaaaat?"...why in TF am I being pulled... pitching and hitting...what the actual....and so I raised my stamina to 99 ...I don't know if this made any difference. My getting subbed or pinch hit for when I'm the home run champ hitting over 650 etc....why in the world would you pull your best player...outside of any "real life" managerial decisions that might be made...even this seems very unlikely...but definitely in this mode in this game...I don't think many of us think this is a quality additional to our enjoyment.
-
My first season I got called up to play the majority of the season up to the wild card... pitched a no in the wild card...got sent back down to AAA right after and didn't get to play the league or World Series and I was BLOWN AWAY! ..
what is going on...lol....this was not a good addition SDS...the objective here is for us all to HAVE FUN...not be excluded from the exact content we paid for...get a clue. -
@maxouille49_PSN hahahaha me tooo bro!!!
