Analyzing the "Combined Multiplayer Program" rewards
-
Like many of you, I'm not sure what to make of the new "combined" multiplayer program. With apologies to @SaveFarris_PSN ... here's my analysis (it's late, so if I made an error please let me know):
For "Part 1" of the program (there are 3 "drops"), you can max out at 45 Points, with the reward being 87 Contributor Terry Pendleton.
1 hit in Ranked - 1 point
1 hit in BR - 1 point
1 hit in an Event - 1 point
25 XBHs - 5 points
5 HRs - 3 points
50 Runs - 5 points
100 Ks - 12 points
150 Hits - 12 points
PxP with Mark Davis (reward at 10 points) - 5 pointsDuring this time, you will earn:
8,000 Stubs (not subtracting the 1,500 stubs you'll spend on BR. I'll boldly assume you can get 1 hit in 1 entry)
110,000 XPs toward the Inning Program
5 Standard Packs
2 BIAH Packs
2 Deluxe Pipeline Packs
1 Headliner Pack
85 All-Star Mark Davis (Sellable)
87 Contributor Terry Pendleton (Sellable)For the remainder of the program, from points 46 through 150, you'll earn:
19,000 Stubs
140,000 XPs toward the Inning program
54 Standard Packs (with 50 coming at 150 points)
2 Headliner Packs
1 Chase Pack 1
1 Kaboom Bat Skin
2 BIAH Packs
1 Jumbo Pack
1 Deluxe Pipeline Pack
1 Premier Pipeline Pack
2 "Mystery" PacksI'm still bummed about losing the old BR program, which was my favorite online mode. But... this is what we have now. Let me know your thoughts...

Isnt the first game of BR free?
I feel like combining the 3 online programs into one kinda works out for people that grind offline and online. Having 3 separate online programs on top of all the stuff that they're adding this year seems a bit like overkill to me.

@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN I don’t think the idea is bad, but the implementation is. Event wins need to count towards program progress, otherwise, what’s the point of playing events? BR wins should count towards progress too. If you can’t go 10-0, there’s no reason to play BR. Gatekeeping with multiple drops sucked last year and it’s back. You can’t earn the WS or BR rewards in the program. Maybe that changes with drops, but the whole online experience feels a lot less rewarding for 99% of the community that can’t get to WS or go 10-0.

I think the point in playing events is for the quick not-so-sweaty stat grind and the event rewards. Not gonna lie, ive never been a fan of BR. I always thought paying stubs to play a 3 inning game was stupid and i dont always have the time or patience to sit down for a hour or 2 to play ranked. Event games are a way to make progress without giving away stubs or half a day.

Don't be so sure there isn't anything to events, they very carefully navigated back to the event screen(and even mentioned got to be careful) I think there is something there in events that they didn't want to reveal.
-
That's certainly more than the past tracks, and they said in another stream that the first ranked season will be the longest. I expect the cycle will be 4 weeks
87 Pendleton is the BR boss level, right? Thats way better than what we normal get in either Event or non WS Ranked
And future ranked tracks will have ranked/br/weekend classic rewinds, which should still be relevant if the power creep is indeed slow.
Reward wise its either neutral or a W in the long run I suspect. Tough to really know without knowing the 'value' of the pipeline packs I guess.
The impact it will have on BR/Ranked is the real issue IMO.

Very strongly disagree. This is way more respectful of my time than last year. Event mode was absolute trash and I ignored it. BR was an absolute hellish slog. Pendleton is BR reward caliber. There are still two unknown cards likely better than him.
The funny thing is that people havent figured out this probably impacts the WS more than the non WS people....
-
@MarioMendoza935_XBL nice summary. That first BR run costs nothing though, as mentioned.
I still do not get the crying about some rewards being harder to get than others. Everybody can get them and if you are not that good, 1 card (related to the one BR card you could get out from the path) won‘t make you/your team that much better. And one other thing: The people complaining the most are the people who mastered flipping … so … do your flipping, it is only a matter of time you get your BR cards
I like the reduction of wins mattering (remember: first program !!!!) , because I got hope that people will not quit that often (okay, all hope is lost anyway on that one
)

Depending on how bad the RNG is the market should be flooded with the BR quality Diamond Quest rewards. Bazzana and Schultz in particular should be great cards. I get this doesnt help the people who feel like playing online will feel less rewarding, but good cards being spread throughout the game instead of just attached to WS/Flawless is a huge step forward
-
So if I am thinking about this right, last year in a 6 week period we had:
2 WS Rewards
1 mediocre ranked card (or was it 2?)
2 BR cards
12 Collection fodder cards (with a couple standout cards that were useful in rare occasione)
6 event cards that almost universally called 'mid'This year it looks like the cycle will be 4 weeks
2 WS Cards
2 Flawless Cards
2? Weekend Classic cards
4 reward path cards (which are so far better than what we would see as event rewards)Other than the lack of BR collection fodder I would say we are getting more cards in 2025 (depending on schedule), but Im assuming we can only get one WS/BR/WC per cycle (starting with the second) without using market unless we are good to great at the game. No different from last year in that regard.

This
I noticed this the whole stream that they were very cautious not to move to quiuck or even hit the back button. There is something they are not ready to reveal.
Hopefully later today we find out what that is

No apologies necessary.
Well done recap. -

Right! Forgot about that ...

I feel like the careful navigation was more to protect something on the home screen. Top collection reward or something, nothing to do with events

One more thing … about this „gatekeeping“. Remember the 23 twelve-win-rewards in Events. You could not get the cards other than the market (or go 12-0). Those rewards were the scarcest we had all year … and a few cycles later, you could get this card.
I stand by this: You should not get every card very easily and at once, if you‘re not good at the game. This makes the best ones happy.
You should be able to get the cards … maybe later. This should make everyone happy.
I am not that good to go flawless, but I like that the goons have something to play for and be happy. -

And the power creep means waiting a month is not relevant. If you cant get 10-0 in the first place than an 87 when 89 is the top card is still going to be perfectly fine for you to use.
Theyve also finally started to put BR quality cards in offline modes, which is a huge step forward too. Cant hang online? Grind those cards and sell em to buy the online ones.
