L's:
They show the "rare" reward for the first DQ board to be a 79 Juan Soto. Seems like a crappy reward for all that time it should take!
Diamond Quest seems like a time sink, but good for offline players I guess? TBH conquest seems like a better bang for your buck.
That 79 Soto and 81 Judge are the tutorial Diamond Quest rewards and almost guaranteed. That map seemed like it could be knocked out in very little time. Everybody wanted year long power creep back so expect early rewards for all programs to low.
It remains to be seen how much of a time sink that it will be. For the tutorial map, since the rewards were guaranteed for any play at All-Star (I think) you could just make a beeline for the stadium and knock it out very quickly. Sure you may run into a random moment or boss battle but it looked like it could be knocked out in under 30 minutes.
I think I like the idea of this and how it combines moments/bosses(showdown style)/and 3 inning games. But it will be hard to judge how time consuming this may be on later maps with multiple stadiums to beat. But I feel like a 2-4 stadium Diamond Quest will still be quicker than a 10 team conquest map.
And nothing is going away since conquests/showdowns/miniseasons/moments will all still be their own separate thing.
The biggest L of the stream for me was that they changed their schedule and now live content is going to have multiple live streams next week.
For those who missed it they will be going live every day next week with more deep dives and the dev tourney.

Soto/Judge are the rewards for the Tutorial board. Assume those are the absolute worst rewards DQ will see all year.
I'm sure we'll get more info about Weekend League in about 5 weeks right before the first one drops.

That would be my guess. But with a year long power creep back I am not expecting early rewards for any of the smaller programs to be that great, probably topping out in the mid 80s (85-87).

100% … but good OP overall …
I really liked today‘s stream (clear A), because now I know exactly how WL and DQ work.
One other thing I got that they are really serious about power creep, capping LS at 91. I also have not seen other non-LS-cards over 86 (Frank Thomas on the TA was a 96) … That is really brilliant and should be very funny. EDIT: I just saw a 87-Pipeline-Bazzana, still great
Also worth mentioning are the changes to pitching changes in 3-inning-games. That should really be big for BR

We'll also still have (presumably) the US Conquest, a mini seasons, the starter program (low end Clemens), collection rewards and the innings program reward (if thats what we're going back to) to start putting together a competitive team without being too juiced on day 1. Im fine with this sort of power creep.

What pitching changes?
-
In all three inning games you no longer have to pitch 3 batters. If you want to bring someone in to face one batter you can do that.
All relief pitchers in 3 inning games are automatically warmed up meaning you don't have to pause the game just to go to the bullpen and warm up pitchers. I think that is big in online games especially, and useful for those of us offline players who sometimes just forgot to do it.
-
@bjd10048_MLBTS Ohtani is also a 2 way player even though he didn’t pitch last year.

He's gonna be pitching this year.
-
@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN Right. There was still a possibility his live series wouldn’t be a SP to start the season since he didn’t pitch at all last year. Glad to see that isn’t the case.

Well yeah, he didn't pitch last year because of the surgery in 2023 but towards the end of last season, the Dodgers made it clear that they had pretty much committed to having Ohtani in the rotation.

79 Soto looks like a terrible reward, but if it's based on his rookie year( what other year could Soto possibly be not a diamond) that would mean it's a nats card and that would be good for gaining nats ta progress

I thought in that card he's wearing a Mets uniform. Weird choice if that's the case.

I dont think those cards were based on any year. They were from the 20th anniversary series.

Not a particular year on the card, but I guessed it could be a nats card cause when else could Soto get a silver other than his first year

I forgot another absolute Big W … Weekend-League. You get rewards and they get bigger with each win (up to 6) … But if you lose (or for you quitters: If you rage quit in the first being down 1
) you each lose one chance to get a reward. That is highly rewarding … But you will get a pack for each win after game 6
-
@YOSHI24_XBL not really. The win streak rewards are for your first 6 games. So obviously, each game you lose prevents you from getting one of the rewards (since you have to go 6-0 to get the top prize). May encourage people to play games out more, but since they are 9 inning games people will still quit when down by a bunch to save time to play more.
-
@GradektheBard_PSN My understanding is it’s not a win streak, but how many games you win in your first 6.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN effectively it’s the same thing for the top reward. For the top reward you have to win your first 6. The other rewards are how many out of the 6 you win.

@GradektheBard_PSN My understanding is it’s not a win streak, but how many games you win in your first 6.
I am looking at the screenshot for rewards in the Diamond (900 to 999) level
1 Win - 50 Packs & 20,000 stubs
2 Wins - 2 Weekend Classic Packs & 10,000 stubs
3 Wins - 15 Ballin is a Habit Packs & 10,000 stubs
4 Wins - Mystery & 10,000 Stubs
5 Wins - Mystery & 10,000 stubs
6 Wins - 2 88+ live series packs & 15,000 stubsSo to get all 6 rewards you have to go 6-0. If you lose 1 game in the first 6 then the 88+ live series packs are no longer an option. If you lose 2 then the Second Mystery reward is off the table. So essentially it is a 6-0 win streak you need to get the best reward.
You can play beyond 6 games but each win from game 7 onward only nets you a Ballin is a Habit pack.
There is also a leaderboard that can net you a bunch of standard packs if you can make the top 10.
The lower your ranking is in ranked the worse the prizes are.
