Why do you not play online?
-
Oh yeah, I think max elevation stadiums are miserable as well. In the event if I get shield woods I just go ahead and quit out
-
i want to play online but my stupid t-mobile internet wont work with the show so ... yea im kinda stuck
-
I play online co-op but i mostly play offline. I get distracted easily by text messages or whatever....sometimes i'll get up in the middle of the game and go get lunch, come home and start watching tv while i eat and 2 hours later i'll be like "Oh [censored]...i forgot i was in the 4th inning...". Can't really do that online.

I haven’t played online very much this year. In previous years I would have at least played 100 ranked games or more by now, I’m currently at 36. This thread inspired me to played some tonight though
For me, the rewards in online modes have felt lackluster, and most end up being 30k stubs cards anyway, so I’ve just grind offline, rip packs, flip cards and buy who I want.
I’ll see how it goes tonight.
I did the same. Right after I made the post before yours I decided to play a game. And exactly what I was talking about happened. This guy had live series Betts with a 400 avg 39 hr and I forget how many rbi, and a few other high stat players. He had a bunch of the new program players in his lineup too getting xp. I lose 3-1, my pitching is clearly better than my hitting. The end of game recap, this guy was ranked at 467 and I was 422 I think. His hitting stats on most of his players dwarfed mine and it clearly showed we shouldn't be matching up with each other regardless if he was just getting started on his new ranked season. I've lost 3 or 4 games in a row now after I started my new season off at 450. There needs to be a better way to separate the skill levels of players online. I understand why so many people don't like to play online because they either run into a goon right off the bat or the next game and get obliterated probably, now they hate online and never return.
Make
Online
Great
AgainTo be fair, that guy could have inflated his stats in moonshot or vs bots. He only scored 3 runs
I feel the best way to improve online is to remove most of the rewards behind it. You still earn pxp and mission progress and regular xp, and could be a track for cosmetics like the pencil bat people love for some reason, but if you take away the cards and heavy xp boosts you are left with the people playing it because its their preferred style of play

My internet speed was upgraded 200mbps yesterday by my provider out of the blue. It was already at 400 but now it's 600 and the boost has jacked my timing up a ton. I'm either early or late with weak contact or it's a foul to the left or right now. My gears are grinding.

Are you playing event online? I feel like the last event I was crushing everything and this event I feel like I'm late on everything when I shouldn't be. I cleared cache on my console b/t the events cause my xp rewards weren't populating so not sure if I messed with some settings by doing so. Almost like i've got a new input lag or they messed with the sliders in the event maybe?

@ArGenTin32_XBL it’s called cheating bro. It’s literally the norm now (coming from a World Series player) game is absolutely not fun at all due to the constant cheating. I’ve blocked thousands of players but they still appear.

I just hate how it plays online. Everything looks and feels different almost as if it's a completely different game than offline. It's pretty [censored] admirable how people can constantly switch from offline grinding on rookie/veteran to online competitive play. Also, the gamer culture is different from when I played sports games (mostly online franchises) in my heyday 15+ years ago. Too much grieving and no socialization.
EDIT - Also, I don't like how the online setup creates for pure mystery. You don't know your opponent's ping, disconnect percentage, idle time, tendencies, stadium choice, or anything. It's just some matchup randomizer that connects me to someone whose team name and shoddy connection would indicate that they're outside the USA. I grew up with lobbies so that's definitely my preference.

@LuvMyXBOX_XBL Plus, I feel like they're turning those modes into pay to win, and not doing so much for the free players, who need that income for lights, rent, bills, etc. Not everyone can just buy stubs and get 50 Show packs just to pull three golds.

The Show is not pay to win, if you are elite at the game you be elite without spending a single cent
If you suck at the game you will still suck even if you buy every cardNot to mention one of the three modes doesn't even use your own cards...

@Teak2112_MLBTS Not really talking about The Show with that one, but like Madden and NBA with their online modes. The Show seems to have that be more balanced though, from what I've seen.

@xRatedGProdigyx_PSN this!! Despite completing the extreme conquest on a mix of HOF and AS difficulty and rarely giving up a run, I get slaughtered online against anyone even vaguely disciplined at the dish.
How are you supposed to get someone out who NEVER swings at anything even a hair outside the zone and who crushes anything inside the zone? Breaking stuff - crushed. Fastball on the corners - crushed. Sliders away - laid off. Changeups the tiniest bit low - both crushed and laid off, sometimes.
The answer is “get better and stop moaning” but how can I lose so badly to a 600 rated online player but beat the CPU on HOF >90% of the time?!

I played someone like that last night in ranked and got whooped. He was 695 and I was 625 I believe. No matter what I threw, outside the zone or in, changed speeds and all. It did not matter. Bombs galore, perfect perfects all around, no weak contact. I was mercied quickly.
Imo, it's about the matchmaking levels. Players who reside in allstar and veteran levels should never be matched with players that reside in hof and legend. There needs to be a system that doesn't allow the better players to drop down levels in ranked. I don't have any real answers but I completely understand why lower level players get discouraged by online play.

Well, I tried playing online a little tonight for the Extreme Events Missions. First time playing online with a fiber connection that runs around 11-12ms. Still felt the same way. The input for base running has such a delay to it. Swing/Pinpoint timing felt inconsistent. Scoring was still possible though because of the huge PCIs (even on HoF) and high elevation parks.
First two players requested "boost" games so that was cool just having some socialization lol.
-
I dont have time. when i get to play its trying to get the latest cards that come out. Adulting sucks
-
I played a fair amount online last year because I wanted to earn the reward cards, but this year's method of staggering the missions made playing during the 1st half of a season almost pointless. It was just easier to go flip and earn the money to buy the cards.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN right there with you. Also had to opt for that strategy sadly. If I didn’t have a real job and could commit to playing 8 hours a day to get better then I might consider online but not as an occasional pick up and play guy

Imagine having a Moment where one way to complete it is by doubg what us technically against their TOS.

That's why I don't understand why the Events Missions weren't based on W's instead of hitting triples and stealing bases with slow players.
