New Stadium Creator way overdue and needed
-
SDS, I sincerely hope you pay some attention to this. Your Turn of the Century props were by far the best themed prop release we have seen for Stadium Creator, and it sparked a small surge in new stadiums using them. It was far more consistent and long lasting than anything we saw for the previous themed props on Future Stadiums.
However, even the TOC prop theme appears to have run its course.
What again we really need to see is fundamental changes to the SC code. To go with this, we need what are best described as building block props, that allow creative stadium designers with the experience to better tailor custom efforts using building blocks as singular props or as grouped props. In short, this is what we most need to keep SC vibrant and relevant, plus expand the joy of play MLB The Show.
-
Revised wall code. Let's scrub the existing SC code to clean up the over modeled no-go areas that currently are formed on the non-playing surface side of walls, especially when the walls form sharp angles and the no-go areas are extended by a scaled distance of 30 to 50 feet and prevents props from being laid close to the wall due to inaccurate flags that the props are in the field of play, when most clearly and by large measure they are not.
-
Revised wall code. It is time for this to happen already! Modify the code to allow the baseline walls from the end of the bullpens to the foul poles on both baselines to be edited in the same way that the outfield wall sections can be edited. The only limit should be that no portion of the baseline walls can be edited such that they intrude on the foul lines. As with the current wall edit option, soon as any changes are made, then the stadium is rendered ineligible for play in Diamond Dynasty (to prevent nefarious actors from abusing the options to gain unfair advantages in online coop play).
-
Allow props to be placed past the baseline walls provided that no part of the prop intrudes in any way into fair territory. This allows designers to replicate such iconic features as the bullpens at Jack Murphy stadium used by the Padres for many years. Again, any use of this option would render the stadium ineligible for DD play.
-
Code the bullpens so that they are in effect a prop, and therefore can be moved and manipulated. These new bullpen props would replace the default bullpens in the jewel box positioning, but would start by default in the current locations down the baselines, but in the manner of the batters eye props, can be changed to different appearance options, as well as moved to any area outside the field of play.
-
Code the batters eye props to be moveable both laterally as well as vertically, including being partially buried. Also, allow designers to opt to remove the batters eye prop, and go without one. A great number of vintage era stadiums did not have batters eyes and so accurate rendering of these historic parks would see designers remove the batters eye prop entirely. Again, any changes would render the stadium ineligible for use in DD. Further, batters eye props can be grouped with normal props, plus have normal props added to them in any position, but would render the stadium ineligible for DD play.
-
Note: the first of several "building block props." Create four new stand type props, with two associated barrier props. These props would be a straight square seat prop that is coded to match the color selected for the stadium and feature a five by five seat prop placed on a stair stepped concrete base. A second such prop would be curved at the front and back and have five seats at front and seven seats at the back, with five rows of seats (five seats across for the first two rows, six across for the next two rows, and seven across at the rear row). The final two "stand props" would be the exact same dimensions but would be just the stair stepped concrete base devoid of seats and fans. Lastly, two barrier props, one straight across and one inclined, to serve as railings.
-
A square shaped digital scoreboard style prop that precisely matches the open area of the current window wall prop feature. This new prop would be hard coded to display just the home team logo. A second type of this prop would be rectangular and would feature just the home team nickname. Designers could then use these props singularly or in groups to allow team branding in the stadiums.
-
Ads on the walls all the way from the backstop, baselines, and outfield walls, coded as a new feature in the wall prop options. Like the current code, it would not be possible to select such ad props to affix to the walls in the area that forms the batters eye area. These ads should be a mix of old school and modern ad looks so that they could be used on modern and vintage type stadiums.
-
Improved ivy wall props. The current ivy wall prop is both memory intensive and visually unimpressive. This ivy prop should be replaced by something that looks more robust and covers completely that section of wall.
-
Include the options for the modern yellow fair lines on the outfield walls and up in line with the foul lines to the bottom of the foul poles. In addition, add a wall prop option to display the distance to home plate for that section of outfield wall. This can be done is a simple white color as that will display with good contrast on all the current wall texture types. Finally, fix the current bug with the wall based SC code that prevents a smooth and uninterrupted series of window and door props to be placed along the baseline and outfield walls. Yes, retain the batters eye no-go area, but sharp corners are often barriers to aligning wall windows and this may be rooted in the same code flaw that causes the extreme no-go areas for prop placement.

-This is the only thing you wrote I'm not a fan of. I don't think the props in anyway should render the stadium ineligible for DD play. If I had to pick a hardline on what makes a stadium ineligible, I'd leave it on the distances...but allow us some freedoms. For example, all stadiums the foul poles must be a minimum distance of 320' from the plate, power alleys a minimum of 360', and centre a minimum of 390'. Other than that, let us have at it.
-The massive flag/no go zones created by even their template walls are a huge problem. Anything with a sharp angle does it. This is something that really, REALLY needs fixing. They need to stop "boxing" the walls and overcoding.
-The ivy is something I've been hoping for a for while. I've never understood why they can't just make the "Chicago Ivy-Spring" and "Chicago Ivy-Summer" an option with the wall type. The present wall options are absolutely trash when it comes to ivy. I do find though that for placing "ivy" on buildings etc, you can make decent ones by sinking trees or other plants into buildings so it looks like Ivy...but also as you said, memory heavy.
-Ads on the backstops I could get behind, and speaking of backstops...I'd like to see more flat ones, like old Shea Stadium. Ads on walls 100%, especially in the outfield, and the yellow HR stripe.
-Different seating types in general are needed

My reasoning for this is the way in which the batters eye prop glitch was deliberately abused. SDS isn't going to allow these options unless they are barred from coop play, where such options in the past were abused in ways that caused great consternation.
There are about a dozen different play modes in MLB The Show. DD is merely one of them. I would even favor being able to use the truly custom stadiums in DD versus CPU sub-modes, but some folks will rightly complain that this would allow DD players to raise their points quicker based on using unfair advantages in stadiums they created. This is why the RTTS player that was allowed to join a DD club as a free agent in MLB 23 was removed in MLB 24. That's the only way we got true two-way player option restored for RTTS.
You cannot have everything. And I would rather have a 90% solution than no option at all.
Cheers!

I really like the ads thing, they can use the same ones from franchise too. Also why can we not add birds circling? I just want this for beach stadiums and stadiums similar is the Gaints I think circling birds is cool. Also if we are adding standing fans, can we start to get in moving fans. Like being able to pick a standing group of fans and picking what concession stands they might go to during the game.

I've never understood the ad thing, like why we can't do it I mean. Hopefully with the mid-season update this week there will be some changes
