My agent called!
-
It's been a good run, couple WS wins, CYs, lots of playoff games. But now the free agents are gone and the last 2 games pitched the infield had 5 errors and the outfield let SIX catchable foul balls that drop harmlessly. Late June. If I don't pitch a shut out, it's hard to get a win. You know the drill.
Last night, after a particularly discouraging game, my agent called. Said something like "You are 1.5 years from free agency. Would you be interested in finding out if the Rays might consider trading you to a contender?"
Response options were yes do it, I don't think we're out of it yet, or no I'm gonna die here in mediocrity (paraphrased, lol).
I had just done a cloud save so I said yeh, get me outta here. Cue suspenseful music.....
Additional notes: Female pitcher. Mia Lewis is finally* in the majors, and Atlanta is a contender.... Would make for good storyline, if they cared about storyline.

Your Mia made it up, huh? Good for her!
(I've got seven female players going, and only one Mia has reached the major leagues. Two or three of them seem to have disappeared entirely.) -
So that season, no trade, Mia bounced between Gwinnett and ATL all season.
This year, last year of team control, the Rays are barely above .500 and my pitcher is very grumpy. Agent called before the all star game, yes, get me out of here. Mia started the season at Gwinnett, came up for a couple weeks when the regular 2B was injured, hit.500, and is back in Gwinnett. As an 81 OVR.
I guess I'm hanging around till FA.

Currently in June of my 3rd season with my female 2 Way player (Reds 2026). 2B Mia Lewis got called up late June of 2025 only to get sent back down after Spring Training. In my first 2 seasons: 2× Home Run Derby Champion, 2× NL All-Star, NL Rookie of the Year, 2× NL MVP, 2× NL Cy Young, 2× NL Batting Title, 2× NL Home Run Champion, 2× NL Strikeout Champion, 0 NL GG (competing against Pitchers leaves 0 room for a fielding error), 0 NL Silver Slugger (can't seem to make the DH list no matter how well I out play Shohei Ohtani), 2× Post-season MVP and 2× WS MVP. After my Rookie season, I've only heard from my agent in May and August of 2025 and May of 2026. All 3 times have been practically the same check in conversation that usually starts by informing of my status as Strikeout leader and goes to the normal 2 way player questions. 2025 had our worst pre-season projection of finishing 3rd in the NL Central, yet we had the best pre-season FA signings by picking up Juan Soto to play RF when I'm assigned as the DH.
