I just think how ironic it is that these games are on a pedestal now for the community. Back then I could (and was) called a fanboy for liking those games. There was so much complaining about the games in that period.

I don't disagree either, MLB 20-22 is way better then 23-24, It's just so funny to me that people have now decided they liked those games when in the past everyone trashed it.

It's sort of like politics, (please don't take that as a red vs blue statement or take it out of context), people as a whole always get annoyed with who is in charge, and then when it changes they want the good ole days back even though during those days they hated it.

A really long convoluting way to say I find the new love for those games funny.

I didnt play it live, but 21 looks awful to me from the 'forever' season perspective.
No mini seasons, super moment heavy, programs are all tiny.

What I miss out on is the 'innings', I dont have access to those. It seems to have a better roster, but then Im only looking at what it has that new games dont instead of the reverse.

    22 looks solid though

'20 was my fav year for content and I do not remember a lot of complaining about content back then. The vast majority of complaining that I remember, before '23, was about gameplay.

I am not saying that gameplay is much better, it's just that content has become so bad, that gameplay complaining has taken a back seat. Back then, some folks were tired of the online H2H gameplay so they found some enjoyment in completing the offline DD content, collecting cards, and so forth. Now, that aspect has become less enjoyable.

20 online players complained a lot.

I remember I complained a lot about check swings in 2021. Didn’t complain as much in 2020 because it was my first year playing DD and I sucked, that’s when I changed from directional to zone hitting.

Once they finally figured out how to nerf the bunt exploit, '16 was a thing of beauty. I enjoyed '16 and '17, as far as online H2H gameplay. In '17, the pitch speeds were to fast for some, so they made a "be late, be great" adjustment towards the end of the year in order to help folks not strikeout as much. Then '18 played more like slow pitch softball.

'18 was the first year of this "revamped hitting engine". As bad as people say gameplay is now, '18 was worse. They have tinkered with it ever since, and it's better than it was. If they found a way to reduce foul balls and better rewarded solid contact, then that would go a long way. Shrinking the outer PCI would probably help.

@iBonafideScrub__PSN I believe 20's nickname was MLB The Lineout. I think it was the first game where lineouts really got peoples attention
