I think its clear the majority does not like the mix of seasons and powercreep, or the idea of 'losing' their cards
While 2024 is very unlikely to change, 2025 must be better.

I thought 2023's content pace, at least for the first 3 seasons, was excellent. In fact, the breakdown of 5 periods worked really well.

My proposal is for 5 'sets' (plus the 6th forever) like last year but with power creep. However, no losing access to cards except in very specific cases

Each set is 6 weeks, the first 4 weeks is standard ranked. After that ranked season is complete, the people that hit world series get invited to the "Sweaty Cup": a bonus mini ranked season for 2 weeks where only current set cards can be used. Everyone also has access to a more casual mini ranked season without restrictions, where one of the prior season's Sweaty Cup bosses can be earned. To go further, this mode will give faster progress to people achieving tier 3 of a theme team captain (MLB teams).

To keep with the theme team topic, a new offline mode can be added around theme teams
There are a lot of ways this can be taken, but it would be meant to be a sort of endless content. I have in mind perhaps a 5 inning length. It could, of course, also be another way to progress TA and the CPU teams would refresh with the newer cards (and not just be oushover live series teams)

Speaking of TA, please return henchman. I know many hated the spreadsheet nature of them, but the key is to make it feel more optional. But it was nice to be able to quickly earn a few cards from the new TA tracks to use right away instead of this year's model. And some of us are nerds and we like spreadsheets. Were baseball fans after all. And to give a reason to spend some time playing with your henchman...

I would propose a parallel level transfer. You can start your set cards with a maximum parallel rank of three by transferring from a prior season's card. Parallel 2 becomes 1 on the new card, 3 becomes 2, and 4 or 5 becomes 3. This is to allow people to feel like they retain some of their work when its time to retire an old friend.

I know not entirely scrapping sets and season is an automatic no go for a lot of people, but I think this keeps the potential for good things while removing the drawbacks. And the "Sweaty Cup" could help the pitch to Sony (though I don't suppose they will go for the name)

I agree 23 was the perfect way to implement the sets/seasons model

It was clearly (to me at least) better than 2024. And it could in theory be done still with power creep, but when you attach a year long power creep it becomes a bit silly as people are cycling cards naturally anyway.

I think its okay to have set restrictions, but they should be the exception and not the norm. The reverse of what we have now.

Yuck.... '23 was horrid and '24 is not much better. They need to keep the power creep, return to their "Innings" format, and get rid of having expiring cards.

Neither is good but 23 did it better to allow some time to shift into the next season.
If you play MtG they do this as well and they have done it rather well for several years. TS should have stayed with that method

I barely noticed the restrictions in 2023, but then I like playing with different cards.
It was a bigger problem for people who took a season off, and people that are fine playing with the exact same cards for 9 months

    2024 I feel big time.

But I agree with the thought of no expiring cards, but rather make niche limited time modes for the sets. I don't know if Sony will allow a return to a more customer friendly model though. Hopefully whales aren't spending as much this year.

Just bring back innings. With a gradual creep throughout the year. It’s that simple SDS, don’t overthink it

You greatly underestimate people's ability to be upset over things.

Couldn’t agree more. Bring back the 2020/2021 format. Worked like a charm and kept everyone engaged all year.

I think the most common complaint was people wanted slightly better 99 cards. I miss that. I was even ok with 22.

    Here’s my idea for ranked…
    We have Co-op.
    We have single player.

Let’s add another version of Ranked where you can play with any season lineup.
