It seems for me the difficulty I choose before a game doesn’t matter what so ever I can play extreamly well and hit 5-10 home runs on all star and hof then play veteran and get smoked. Does this happen to anyone else. It becomes unbelievably difficult to play.

This is by design. They do not always want us to mindlessly grind XP on lower levels by hitting ten home runs every inning, like it used to be.

BTW: Seems like certain teams/hex's on this new Conquest map are more difficult than other hexes/teams.

The Reds for ex, they beat me 1-0 on Rookie even though I was perfect- perfect on most plate appearances. My line-drives went right to their fielders. While batting, the CPU had amazing plate discipline and batter's eye. They took everything just inches off the plate. Crazy!

I can't tell you about other "people". I just know and share my experience.

I've noticed this phenomenon once they started making pitch speeds part of difficulty. It's nothing in the programming, it's entirely based on acclamation towards pitch speeds. If you are used to hitting on AS and HOF, Veteran and rookie slower speeds is going to mess up your timing until you get acclaimed.

In my experience, it's not just pitch speeds. In '15-18 (or so) you could grind on Rookie vs CPU and they would just serve up (slow) fastballs down the middle. You would just sit back and mash x and hit many home runs and collect much XP. The CPU on offense, would swing at just about everything you threw. You could mindlessly rack up 2-3 strikeouts each inning.

There has definitely been a change in their philosophy as far as the difficulty for us collecting XP over the years. They used to allow us to play against user created teams for XP (ie The Yetis), but they must have figured that was too easy for us to acquire stats and progress. It definitely used to be much "easier".

It is not difficult nowadays on Rookie/Veteran, but now you do need to think, work counts, and pitch realistically. You can't just throw high fastballs every ab and collect strikeouts, like in the past. Currently, the CPU tunnels pitches, even on Rookie.... this never used to happen. I wish I could show current Rookie/Veteran CPU pitch sequences vs the pitch sequences from several years ago. It's a pretty big difference.

You shouldn’t be able to earn xp on lower levels. Legend only.

On the bright side, that would probably better prepare folks for online H2H.
