So, Sets & Seasons are back.

@CBrev47
Great news. Thanks

I love the idea of a more digestible TA. But I also think TA has run its course -- it really doesn't do what it's supposed to. It's just a giant collection with a few usable cards online that will help you get the big collections later on...

They just couldn’t humble themselves enough to admit sets & seasons was a mistake, So they doubled down on them & just changed things slightly. SO GLAD I didn’t preorder. I will say thanks to SDS for letting everyone know now so they can cancel their preorders before they are charged.

Major disappointment reading the blog post. SDS had a great DD formula, completely jacked it up last year and have doubled down this year despite being flooded with negative feedback. Sure they threw us a few bones but overall, very disappointed in the continued direction. Bottom line, I pay for the game; I don’t want cards I’ve earned deemed unusable throughout the game cycle that again, I paid for.

@CBrev47 I really appreciate this post. Last season definitely brought complete burn out for me and I know it did for many others. A fun TA sounds great, but anything close to last year would be a nightmare. One of the biggest improvements that could ever be made with TA and other programs is to be able to make progress just as easily online versus offline. The past few years have brought so many offline requirements that it makes it where you almost have to choose completing programs or playing online.
This right here. They completely pigeonhole people into a specific mode to try and get objectives done for cards that discourages people from playing online to complete them.
I don't mind it innthe beginning when I'm building a team and working the market to buy cards I want but after that first month I want to play with my shiny new cards and I'm forced into a choice of playing online with the cards I worked for or offline to acquire more cards.
Start giving some incentives to playing the game across the board. I feel like they are so worried about less than 1% of people boosting for objectives that they screw over the other 99% to make a point lol
We heard this feedback a lot last year and it's something we're addressing. Expect more ways to progress TA passively, including the return of TA vouchers and missions for both "vs. CPU" and "vs. other players" modes.
Just a minor issue; but did they address a way for obtaining extra unneeded vouchers?
Since I completed everything offline once Season 6 started; the only modes worth me playing are online. Which is fine. But I ha e over 100 TA vouchers that are absolutely worthless.

@buckeye7 Last time I try to get it … Question: Did you play 21 and had (like everybody) Monthly Award 95 Byron Buxton in your lineup? Yes? Did you have him in there in say August?
If you did not play in 21, try and imagine any card other than collections you earned in April/May you got in 22 -
@CBrev47 Is there going to be a possibility of getting repeatable TA vouchers from completing conquest maps. Conquest maps are my favorite way to grind, and they rarely have repeatable rewards rendering most of the maps useless after completing them once.

That seems like a positive direction. Also hope they expand objectives that can be completed through coop as well somehow. When not freezing that was one of the most fun game modes of anything I have played in a while. If it's improved at all this year I'm likely to make that my primary online mode of play.

@CBrev47 will the online vouchers for online innings pitched be in the game at launch, hopefully adjusted to 9 innings instead of 10?
-
They did a great job…seasons is here to stay so no need to complain about it in my opinion.
-
No Sets is a good thing.
-
We'll see how it all plays out.
First of all no matter what they do somebody was going to complain. Leave things the same and one group of players complain of cut and past programs. Change things up and another group complains that it is not the same.
Wildcards - We get up to four. Now, there should be no need for one during the first season. So I would guess that we get a free on starting with Season 2 and then an extra wildcard slot will be a reward on each seasons program until we end up with 4 total in season 4.
Power Creep - This one concerns me but we will see how it plays out. Each season is 12 weeks. If 99's don't appear until the last 4 weeks of a season (chapter 3 of Team Affinity) then we will only be able to use those cards for a few weeks instead of a few months. I don't want to earn a 99 Stan Musial in week 10 of a 12 week season and only use him 2 weeks.
They will need to be careful. For example, if season 1 goes until mid June and the May POTM cards get released then there would be little point in doing them if there is only a week left in the Season. They would need to hold back those cards for the next season I would think.
I have to say that as a more casual, offline DD player I am leaning towards this not being an engaging change for me. I guess we will see.

@Dolenz You are wrong on the WildCards. You will start with one at beginning of each new season, starting in S2. You will earn up to 4 on the xp reward path
As for the power-creep 99. You will not use the season-earned-99s for 12 weeks, that is for sure. That is where the WC comes into play.
As for the POTM. I guess they handled that via the 12 weeks.
S1: Mid March - Mid June
S2: Mid June - Mid September (so All-Star will be the main content)
S3: Mid September - Mid December (look out for Finest)
If that is the case, all the POTM are well within the seasons and be power-creep-content. I expect the May-POTM (e.g.) to be more powerful than the April-POTM -
Offline content shouldn't be held to the same 12 week seasonal restriction. Makes no sense for their to be a time limit on offline content. There is zero advantage to completing offline only content and earning rewards at a slower pace.
