@broken_toy1 He limited our discussion to this "Discuss without bringing up anything besides playing baseball.",
So I can only talk about wanting or not wanting Bauer on my team in the context of baseball is what he is saying. He wrote it right up there. That sentence boils down to, "Only comment on whether he would be good at baseball or not"
That is the way I read it, if you can point out to me what I'm missing, I'll try and answer as genuine as I can

@joshjays44 The burden of proof is low for civil matters. He was never charged criminally for rape. He hasn’t even been charged with insurrection either. Facts matter. TDS
Actually facts, proof, and charges/convictions never matter in the court of public opinion.
What he did or didn't do is irrelevant, what matters is the perception of him,
His career is over ,he is too volatile for anyone to take that risk,he is paying the price of fame, and of not being careful to protect his image. -

Wow. That lasted long. Third post and we're already off topic. Guess before this gets shutdown; I can at least thank @broken_toy1 for having a discussion.
Guess certain people want to watch the world burn.
everyone should block that joshjay guy. He's a troll with nothing positive or worthwhile to add. I've had him blocked for months and been better off for it. I don't just block anyone either.
Hey bud, I help franchise people out but that's seldom cause this fourm is filled with DD casuals so I have a little fun

If he was a normal civilian he could of stayed under the radar and keep doing his shady business and ripping people off. Now he's going to be battling court cases for the few remaining days he has left and probably go bankrupt once again. I just hope he doesn't take America down with him, you guys are better than that.

I didn't want anyone to ignore what happened. I just didn't want this thread turning onto an argument between others. But that idea was thrown out the window with the third or fourth comment and, I'm not going yo name names, but fuel keeps getting added to the fire with all the political posts.
Edit: we have almost two pages of posts here end I can count on my hand, and still have fingers left over, the number of posts thst are about baseball. The majority kf the rest turned into two to three people arguing about politics.
That's not what I wanted. I wanted a baseball discussion. If it included what happened, then so be it.
I just didn't want that aspect, or the aspect that is present now, being the majority of this thread.
But I guess a few people would rather watch the world burn than have an adult conversation about baseball.

Let's gooooooo! Just kidding. I know people thought it was me who got the other thread shut down.
Your starting premise is flawed because the PRIMARY REASON nobody will sign him has everything to do with off-the-field stuff.
No team just gets "a decent pitcher" -- they get all the fun stuff that comes along with TB. And looking at easy-to-find career comps, at his age, it just ain't worth it.
There is no universe where you can separate him as a pitcher from him as a PR nightmare. Sorry.
-
His stats after they started checking for sticky stuff regressed back to what he was before 2020. In the 4 starts his ERA was 3.45 and WHIP was 1.45 so without his SpiderTack he was back to a normal average pitcher. That also makes a difference.
-
@PAinPA That particular comment wasn’t about Bauer, but I get what you’re saying. That does seem to be the new norm, but that doesn’t mean it’s right. I don’t speak for my favorite team, but I couldn’t care less about public opinion. Most of the public is led by their emotions rather than facts, logic and reason as you can see from this thread. I do also understand though that these businesses have to care about public opinion.
-
This subject is only brought up for everyone to discuss exactly what is being discussed. I posted twice. Once about him being unclaimed and once about his performance without SpiderTack and went completely un-noticed. I don’t care. I actually posted hoping to be missed to make this point that you all only bring this guy up for the very purpose to argue about anything but baseball or whether he should or shouldn’t belong.

View from across the ocean:
- Every team would benefit from signing him, because everybody lacks (at least mediocre) pitching
- It reminds me very strongly of Colin Kaepernick
- It is still in the wrong part of this forum, because it is off-topic, but nobody cares

So we all good now guys? now let's grab a beer and watch some Spring training baseball!!

Agreed, but putting up with a low cost option, even though he does seem like a DB, could benefit a lot of teams on the field. I'd hate to be a GM needing a middle of the rotation arm right now. That WHIP is eh, but the ERA was alright.

I get what you're saying. I think the idea is to comment on if he would be a benefit to your team. You can't ignore the 500 lb. gorilla, but the gorilla isn't the main topic of discussion. Would he help your team without being a distraction? That's it.
Thank you for not taking my comment as a sleight. That was not my intention. I read it later and thought it might be taken that way.
