CPU pitching and fielding
-
Even on lower difficulties the cpu pitching and fielding is absolutely ridiculous. Between the super dotting and nibbling just off the corners by the pitchers and the Superman dives, jump throws, ground covered on fly balls, pitcher walls, and crazy line outs right at fielders multiple times per game. It still ticks me off and my young son that just started playing even noted it makes him not want to play. This doesn’t even mention that hitting is way too heard and the learning curve way too steep for new players. It all boils down to SDS trying to cater to way too many audiences and even factoring in the hardcore competitive players to the equation is their first mistake. They will dominate no matter what and if that makes the game boring for them then maybe they can find something else in life to apply themselves towards. I just want to chill and have fun, now with my son, not sit on the perfect pitch on the black by a common pitcher on rookie difficulty only to hit the ball right at someone.

I agree 100%.

Get him a PS3 and MLB10. Long story short. I gave a friend one of my old PS3s and went to a retro gaming store and found MLB10 for a buck. He’s 10 years old. He loves the game. That’s peak MLB The Show in my opinion and I’m sure you can find a retro gaming store around you someplace.

Excellent advice.
To OP’s list of grievances, I would also add cpu baserunners with 70 speed beating out IF hits, and stealing bases when our own 99 attribute players constantly get thrown out.

Just beating a dead horse here to OP’s point:
First inning conquest game vs SF Giants on AS difficulty, Ross Stripling (bronze 70 OVR) throws 7 pitches to the leadoff hitter. 1/7 is in the zone, 3/7 are fully out of the zone by a ball width, 2/7 are barely touching the strike zone, 1/7 has almost half a ball width in the zone.
Batter walks.
