Outfield Defense
-
Can someone explain how this works this year? I’ve had numerous OF cards with excellent attributes badly misplay routine base hits and turn them into doubles or triples. Is it lag causing my fielder to overrun or let balls get past them?

I think a lot of it is they toned down the defense a bit compared to previous years. A lot more gap shots this year compared to last. I've noticed quite a few more line drives getting over defenders heads this year too. And sometimes I just feel like "Good" defenders get stuck in bad animations. I've noticed it in the infield too where a "Gold" defender looks like he's trudging through mud and misses a maybe not easy grounder, but one that should be fielded rather routinely.

It’s interesting because, these miscues seem to generally be scored as hits, not single, E9 or whatever. I’m not a fan of it.

I am a huge fan of the defense over the last previous couple of years. Common cards were playing like gold glove players before and now they aren't. Sure, our cards have been toned down too, but I'll take it over what we had before.

Imo Outfield Defense should be toned down even more. You can put Soto in the field and he will play „just fine“ … Too many Outfielders cover way too much ground

Yes way too many balls hang in the air while outfielders casually jog over and grab it. Either run it down or it goes over their head or in the gap. Same applies to infielders diving to snag hard ground balls and line drives. Happens way too often and these should be hits. The reason the game is so HR heavy is because most singles, doubles and triples are being heavily nerfed.

I’m fine with the concept, but the way it works presently, guys with 99 speed and reaction can not be moved properly with the controller.
The game is literally taking the play out of your hands sometimes.
