Season Eligibility ruined DD for me

Same here. This is the earliest I’ve quit MLB and this game’s basically been dead since Extreme.
I probably won’t buy it next year regardless. After what they did this year, they no longer get the benefit of the doubt.
Horrible idea with their sets/seasons, going completely MIA for weeks at a time during the middle of the season, the lack of communication in general (that’s been getting worse and worse the last 2-3 years).
Not to mention basically just copy and pasting gameplay. Sure there’s some differences but for the most part it’s the same game as it has been the last 3 years. Excessive foul balls, unrealistic ball physics (both hitting and pitching), balls constantly getting smoked 110mph directly at players. They need an overhaul before they get any of my money.
-
Judging by how little activity there is on these forums and on reddit, and how slow the market seems to be moving in game, you are obviously not alone. This is my sixth year playing this game and the only time I've felt like the game is almost dead while I was still playing (usually quit after the finest program).
It could be any number of reasons for the player decline but I'd guess sets/seasons is the biggest reason. Grinding for the same players over and over every 2 months is exhausting and needlessly pointless.
-
absolutely gents - the OP is exactly right on the problem with grinding and then POOF goners next month - what a stupid decision by SDS and their lack of care with respect to our time gaming
-
The sets/seasons stuff doesn’t bother me so much. If given a choice, I’d get rid of it, but it’s not a deal breaker for me.
What IS the deal breaker? The GRIND to get these cards!!
I’ve played this game (offline) since early release. I’ve yet to fully complete ANY TA. Yes, I have a couple of divisions in a TA done at 100%, but still….
I’ve yet to collect any TA 4 cards yet. I’m grinding to finish TA 3. I hate that they have separate collections for TA 3 and 4. And those cards feed into the Collection for Set 3 and 4.
That makes TA 3 and 4 almost mandatory, if your goal is to complete collections.
So, the relentless grinding is literally causing me to not play as much as I normally would.
SDS could easily fix this. Have a “Finish TA” week(end) where we get double PXP. (Not XP). They could adjust the requirements for TA and make them more reasonable. Or they could have (again) a specific time where ANY PXP counts for all TA fulfillment. (Like MTO)
I mean, throw us a bone here.
I keep holding out hope that they see the lack of engagement, the lack of completion and they change something!

I happen to really enjoy it and I hope you know that they’ll all be eligible from this point forward when season six comes you get all those other cards back. You can still use all your cards all year round in other modes. This just makes you have to change your team up a little bit in online rank. It’s basically it but if they did remove it wouldn’t be too much of a loss for me.
-
I disagree. I enjoy it quite a lot. I’ve never had a team worse than before. I have barely used the Wild Card. I have constantly fielded a team with almost all 99s. I think they should adjust it some and add a pitchers slot Wild Card for those who utilize the Wild Card and shorter seasons. I hit the wheel so often it drives me bananas.
-
As a man with 3 kids and no life it hasn’t bothered me. I have plenty of time to grind lol. But I see both sides of the isle. Ultimately the 99s hidden behind packs is my issue
-
If enough people are not satisfied then they'll change it . I personally like it . Given that so many quitt after going down by just a few runs , yes I can see people quitting the game .
Like Elden ring didn't add an easy mode , I hope they keep the sets/seasons. Games are supposed to have obstacles.
Idk , I guess people today are not used to having obstacles. Easy mode for everyone. -

I have even less of a life. I basically play all day while my girlfriend works and her son is in school having sold my accounting business during COVID. I don’t touch those cards and don’t see the need for those cards. Why are they so important to you?

On the flipside, my Cardinals Theme team has gotten worse each new season since it peaked in season 2.

So they’re the 2023 Cardinals and season 2 was the 2022 Cardinals?

None of the cards are important to me. But i want them. I havent spend a dime on this game, 100% game pass and sit pretty well. I have 700k stubs. just debating what i want to buy now lol.

They’re not important but them being in packs is an issue. So you’re just complaining to complain.

I agree with this. I still play a little, but far less than the last 5 years and often with long breaks. I loved grinding the Parallels when they started that, but don't even have a parallel 4 even this year, because what has been the point. They even destroyed the Live Series Collections this year with all of the early game cards (which just got repeated later) when got rid of my favorite of collecting all of the different card series for the "BIG" collection.
I've been sitting on CORE cards for months waiting for the next CORE collection above Corey Seagar, but while it still might come, who wants to lock in 800k in stubs for one card, so I just sold all of them and bought Trout.
I really hope they don't do this again next year. I'll still get the game since I own Game Pass (hopefully they still are doing that) but I wont pre-order or waste stubs on Live Series OR collections ever again.

It's so cute the obvious SDS accounts started a little game of ookie cookie. So cute.
-
I’m burnt out. No desire to grind for the trash 97’s that will never sniff my lineup. I can appreciate the different ways to acquire different cards but it’s just too much repetitive nonsense and too much to keep track of.

I’ve been here 4 months and seen you post twice. Once to say you spent months making a college baseball stadium you placed on the “moon” to get bombs and now to complain you won’t play your free game off GamePass. I’ve parallel V so many cards I’d have to turn my console on and go find them to list them.

In all fairness you have also admitted to playing the game all day long and having no life after selling your accounting business and living on the game while your girlfriend works and her daughter is in school. So comparing your progress in the game to the average player is not fair in any way, shape, or form. Expiring cards does make paralleling more difficult and somewhat pointless in this year’s game. But, you also like to tear people down on these forums whenever their opinion differs from yours so I’m not shocked.

Touché. I take it back. I’m sure they will go out of business without him not not buying their game. Is that better?
-
I totally understand the gripe about a game included on game pass. All I’m saying is that he made a good point on paralleling cards in 2023 that you disagreed with in a snarky way just because you have tons of P5 players. Debating and disagreeing is good on the forums having an attitude and acting like an internet tough guy speaks volumes.
