Against my better judgment, decide to give a TA 3 East Showdown a go. 20 point rewards was my enticement to give it a try.

Silly rabbit (me). Barely made it thru 4 of them.

The usual shenanigans of dotted pitches, superhuman fielders, and double plays on demand.

Gary Sheffield thrown out at the plate to lose the 5th challenge vs Strasberg.

Fool me once, fool me twice. I don’t care that the level is now posted on the moment. They don’t play to that level.

This mode needs a total revamp. It must be more straightforward. Or get rid of it.

When users are posting that you need to use “bunt cheese” to win these, well that ain’t real baseball. Which SDS claims this is supposed to be about.

Working counts, taking pitches, advancing baserunners, and dare I say it: Homers (!!) are what todays game is about.

Anyway, thanks for reading my rant. I’ve posted it before, I’ll post again ( and stick to it this time): until I read that SDS has changed this mode, I won’t be bothering with it going forward.

    It’s a mess….

Feel free to post your Showdiwn rant as well!!

    Misery loves company! 😀

100% agree. Showdowns have the potential to be fun but the CPU sliders are cranked to max levels. It plays horribly and relies exclusively on home runs or cheesing the system.

I think it should be a fun mode but the CPU doesn't play fair. It tells you all you need to know that so many of the people who say they're easy recommend bunt cheesing your way through.

Prior years, I hated Showdowns. This year I find them much more reasonable and enjoyable. Especially, the TA3 and Series 3 Other Program Showdowns. I went through all of these Set 3 Showdowns, w/o a single bunt, on the first try. Heck on the Moonshot Showdown, I don't think I had less than 6 outs remaining in any of the rounds. By the way, I suck at this game. I am an older gentleman who never plays online.

The one I haven’t attempted is the extreme one because I didn’t need to. Otherwise pretty fun

Too be fair you don’t need to bunt cheese to win it’s just an option they give you if you can’t seem to do it yourself. Showdowns are a mental gymnastic for some and extremely easy for others, but never is it real baseball.
