DD Events Player Matching

Does anyone know how players are matched in events? My ranked seasons rating is around 550 but when I match on events or BR it is pairing me with people with 1400+ ratings. Its basically unplayable because I am getting matched with people well beyond my current skill level. It seems like the law of averages would dictate that i would eventually draw an opponent at or below my skill level, but I've been drawing people that consistently put up 8+ runs while I am not good enough to consistently put up more than 3 or 4. I dont have this issue with ranked seasons, I think I'm 14-5 or thereabout. I just dont understand how my opponents can match with someone of my skill level but I cannot.

That’s not how it works in events and BR. Entry level for first games are like 1430-1570. Lose and you drop down, win and you go up, but those are not RS ratings.

100% what @Oreo-Thomas_XBL says. However... I have no idea what's going on in the event, at least for me. I'm typically in the 600's range for RS. Not great, but not the worst. I'm currently 5-0 in my active BR run. I always win more than I lose in events.

... in this event. I didn't know how bad it was until I actually looked. I'm embarrassed to even admit it, but hey, misery loves company. Maybe 90% of the WS players live in the greater Jacksonville area and they're all grinding the event. That's what I tell myself before I go to bed.
BTW - I can see @Oreo-Thomas_XBL has a .750 winning percentage in the event, so it's obviously a "me" problem.

lol, this is probably the event I have seen the most goons. I Think Kaiju event 1 I went 20-1 and part 2 I was 20-3, so was feeling a bit overconfident. I started this one 3-2 and was on the verge of losing again when I made a Comeback and then went on a little streak, but never seen so many WS and flawless banners. Every game is a grind.
