Conquest Difficulty

This is getting absurd. Is SDS’s main mission to waste Users’ time? Is the goal to make people logged in as long as possible? Because it is becoming increasingly clear in many instances. In these [censored] conquest games ON VETERAN and you’re driving the ball for lazy fly outs and their pitchers are dotting the black every pitch. On all star or higher, I get it. But veteran or lower, no excuse. It’s supposed to be for grinding. And apparently the difficulty level is completely irrelevant in conquest now.
-
It could be just me, but I feel like the randomness in hitting is heavy on veteran difficulty, try rookie I suppose
-
There is definitely something different with Conquest. When I play on rookie in Conquest I rarely put up more than 3 or 4 runs whereas if I play on rookie in play vs the cpu I put up 30-40 per game.
-
Yeah...some of my Conquest games on Rookie have been sweaty of late.
What's odd is I make great contact. Hit the ball hard af...mostly for outs.
Had an inning where CPU threw 3 pitches...I hit all 3 Perfect-Perfect...and I went down 1-2-3. LOL.
I mean...it happens, I guess. Just feels like I'm playing in the "dead ball era" when I play Conquest games.
-
Yup i completely agree with this post, something weird going on with conquest. In conquest any good/good contact is either a double play or a hard line drive out.
In a 9 inning game against the CPU good/good contact is a double or loud base hit and perfect/perfect often results in a home run.
I don't know if it's the pitching or something to do with the pitcher confidence but i deffinetly have noticed a big difference.
Even in the mini seasons hitting feels better then conquest.
-
I did the Cincinnati conquest within that last couple of days using the Topps now players with the Tyler O'Neill captain and actually did better than ever playing on Veteran. 5 games and I outscored the CPU 34-2.
-
It’s funny. My experience with the Cincy Conquest was just the opposite. I used my Main squad, full of 97/98/99 hitters. 3 of the 4 games went to extra innings. Only the cincy stronghold went down “easily”. And that was like 3-0 or some thing.
Lots of perfect/perfect balls to the warning track. Insane fielding by CPU. Several line drive DP by infielders.
Definitely not relaxing. But, it’s done!
-
Pick the 5th guy in your line up to pitch, that way you get their 5th guy. Also, even though the pci is “bigger” on lower difficulties if you aren’t close to the center it has a higher likelihood of being an out. You are probably also pressing each abat and trying to hit the first pitch out of the ballpark.. U still need to take pitches until the pitchers confidence gets low.
I promise, the problem is probably user error.
-
I think the main time suck for these conquests now (especially the TA ones)is the cpu has way way way too many high number spaces surrounding the strongholds, sometimes it takes 15 turns to move 2 spaces to get near the stronghold.

I disagree. Even though I am playing 2020, there was a huge update on the system just before the 23 game launched and I see a lot of what people complain about too.
On rookie I used to destroy the AI 15-20 runs a game. Now it's a struggle to get to 5 runs a game. Sometimes it's me getting frustrated and chasing, but 80% of my hard hit balls are either directly into a fielders glove, and I mean they literally don't have to move, or it dies at the warning track, or super dive saves the day.
I get that hard hit and perfect/perfect doesn't guarantee a hit/extra base hit, but I am willing to bet that the real life percentage of this type of hit is far better than the 20% I seem to be getting of late.
I also have noticed that the AI likes to gift themselves a two out, two strike no doubt homer to tie the game in the third inning, and suddenly a game that should have been over becomes a very stressful, many extra innings grind.
I just feel that they are going to try and force everyone to DD and eventually phase offline as much as possible out so they can milk every penny they can from everyone by mandatory online only options for rewards with any offline options giving no reward.
-
Yeah, I’m not sure what exactly is going on but the gameplay is very different now compared to at launch. The mechanics are still better than 22 but not by much and when you factor in the crazy endless grinds, stingy rewards, consolidation of collections into sets, no sell cards and online rewards driving up card prices, and the top tier 99s being locked behind a paywall in premium packs, I think I may have actually enjoyed playing 22 more than 23 which I never thought was possible going into this year. The past 2 years I was able to get every card in the game and generally enjoyed doing it by grinding and flipping my rear end off as a casual player that’s busy as hell during the week. This year I’ve tried putting in the same effort with much, much, less to show for it and I’m already feeling more burned out then I have by fall the past 2 years.

Why would you ever play a game on veteran? It takes 5 seconds to reinforce and go to rookie

I only play on Veteran even when rookie is an option for conquest. Why? Mainly consistency. It is what I am used to playing most.
The only time I have purposefully played on Rookie is when I choose to grind a 9 inning CPU game for PXP purposes.
-
Lol I don’t even play this trash mode and completed Cincy conquest in less than an hour rookie
-
The only issue I have with conquest maps is that there is too many of them. I’m already 7 maps behind.
-
Haven’t noticed this at all. If I’m patient and wait for a good pitch, I can easily put up 8+ runs in a conquest game on Veteran. If I’m swinging at dumb stuff and trying to rush, I’ll usually only put up 1-3 runs.
Be more patient.
-
I don’t know. Finished Cincy map yesterday. Halfway thru TA East map tonight. Feel like I’m hitting in the deadball era. Fortunately, so is the CPU.
LOTS of lazy fly balls to the OF. LOTS.
-
I think they turned up the CPU defense. The amount of web gems is bonkers. Combine that with the usual line outs and many of these games are a slog.
-
Hers how I KNOW that something is up. On the TA East map, I just lost my second strong hold attempt. I’ve lost once every now and then, but never to two different teams. Also, the combination of Kluber/Jensen on the Red Sox no hit me. That has never happened. Even with that crazy Kraken extreme map last year
Something’s up.

Agreed. The defense and pitching on rookie is absurd / rigged!!!!!
