I never really complain, but there is no benefit anymore from playing conquest without take all the spaces before you attack the strongholds. in years past if you played on hall fame or legend, you could attack the strongholds and sim after and get it done quicker, however now if you do that, the stack the with super high numbers, so what keeps happening to me of I’ll win the strongholds, then sim the territories and lose and then they have re-defend the strong hold because the cpu has too many fans and the re attack. This never happened in the past. I used to be able to b-line strong hold to strong then sim, but now there is no benefit to doing it that, it’s frustrating. Sorry for the rant.

The amount you start with is smaller as well. You could play 2-3 games before just off the hop, now on turn 2 you only have like 4 fans.
I’f you are getting attacked a thing you could do is just have 1 less or equal to them in your stronghold (or any space) The CPU will never attack with even numbers only higher. Example if they have 3s surrounding a stronghold you only need a 2 to completely negate them lol.
You may need to do an extra turn to just replenish everywhere and stop them but it’s better than additional games, because they will never actually keep up pace with the amount you add either.
Another thing that I screw up on sometimes is if I’ve taken the stronghold and they have a bunch of large numbers trapped behind ones (usually the last few teams) never attack the ones and keep all those high ones until the end where they are trapped. Let’s say they have a dozen hex’s with ones, and 20 spaces behind those with 5-9s. They are trapped there behind the ones until you open a space for them, and sometimes the 7 can make it all the way back to the stronghold you just conquered and force another game.

I have not really changed my Conquest strategy in years. Take as much territory as possible around my stronghold early. Then I pick a path and load up all my reinforcements in single square and go on a March making sure to leave the other teams no easy paths to expand into.

I've done it one of two ways... attack, attack, attack (and sometimes steal fans) until I can get a teams stronghold on rookie and do that for the whole map... the other way I do it is take every territory except strongholds until I have enough reinforcements near various strongholds to play those games on Rookie and run of 2-3 (sometimes more) stronghold games in a row to clear the map.

The CPU does seem to win a little bit more this year, but I have been able to overcome the difference. It is frustrating though. Watching your 12-1 matchup slowly dwindle away. 11,10,9,8,7,6......

If you capture a stronghold, but move the fans out to attack, don't leave any big enemy numbers around you. It happened to me once in 20 or 21, and I never again left big numbers next to empty strongholds.
