Please adjust the Showdowns

Agreed. The game has made a very calculated shift towards heavy grinding and microtransactions. Sure, there are a ton of 99s and a bunch of great 97s but to get the best of the best cards in the game you either have to live on the game, over 40 hrs per week, or buy stubs. It makes sense from a business standpoint to maximize revenue. If long time players are unhappy with it SDS doesn’t care because they will replace them with new players more than willing to spend money until the novelty wears off. As many players have said previously I enjoy playing the game overall but this year has opened my eyes more than any in the past towards the direction DD is heading. SDS is not EA but they are learning.

They’re already on Veteran difficulty …I could understand if they were on Legend but cmon man.

This is all I'm seeing on the forum lately, why are these people so scared of a challenge? They want everything given to them with no work or difficulty involved.

I don’t think it’s a difficulty thing. I understand where the OP is coming from. I think it’s more of a time thing, you get deep in, hit some bad luck or whatever and it’s back to the start. Not everyone has tons of time to play. Maybe a buy in option like for BR entries would be an idea. Let’s say you lose in the fifth challenge, you can than have the option to pay like 2000 stubs for a continue.

Exactly this . Its getting deep into showdown and losing then restarting from the beginning. We need some sort of half-way restart point or something. These showdowns are time consuming, they are not as quick as they are made out to be and believe it or not some of us don't spend or want to spend all day on the game. Even on VETERAN the CPU will fund away to make things interesting when it shouldn't
-
Agreed. There should be checkpoints. Once you complete 4, you can restart from there. Or you have 3 chances per draft.
-
So what are you figuring? 2 moments and a boss? Is 3 easy enough for you to do and get the shiny new cards to play with?

Exactly…I’m 45 years old and I remember playing games on Nintendo & Sega that would take me a year sometimes to beat. That was before they had easy difficulties. These kids nowadays don’t know the pain lol

I remember when i was a kid, me an my brother would walk to the local convenience store and play Double Dragon for hours on end until the day we finally beat it.
In todays world, these kids would lose once and jump online to demand the devs lower the difficulty or something. I know that comes across as very "get off my lawn"-ish, but at least our generation had the stones to persevere and not give up in adverse situations.

I hear you, but the way they crank Sliders up, and their way of simulating difficulty is really cheap.
One example are passed balls. You KNOW you're not going to be safe if you try to advance, but they bait you in Showdowns, seemingly pouncing on the slightest mistake you make. You may say that's done in real life baseball, but Showdowns aren't fair. Not difficult, but cheap and unfair at times. -
“Back in my day we had to walk uphill both ways to school in 4 feet of snow!!!!!!”
Man, some of you guys try coming on here trying to be the cool, tough guy and don’t realize how legitimately dumb you sound. Well done.
By no means did i imply things need to be “given”. I have no problem with the grind. We have all played this game more than enough to know no matter how good you are, it won’t play as intended sometimes…and to play through 5 or 6 bosses for 35-40 minutes only to lose on the second to last one because of diving catches by bronze fielders or perfect perfect outs just seems like it could use some reconsideration.
As others had mentioned, even having a checkpoint where you could pay stubs to start at boss 3 or something. Even conquest if you lose, you don’t lose progress. IMO, with how much time is needed to grind for everything else in this game, it could cater a LITTLE to those of us who can’t play this game 25+ hours a week.

It’s not the challenge my dude, it’s the time. Takes what, 30-40 minutes MINIMUM to complete a showdown? Run into some of these “score 2 runs with 8 outs”….yeah it should be easily attainable, but run into some BS mlb the show RNG and all of a sudden you have to start from scratch with nothing to show for it and almost an hour completely wasted. Just doesn’t seem right give how much grinding is needed overall.
At least then give Showdowns more xp towards programs
-
I have basically done a complete 180 on showdown since it was introduced. I hated all the blue missions. Now that they are all red missions, it is a fun, somewhat challenging mode where each stage is critical (obviously that wasn’t the case when they used to have a ton of blue missions). The kaiju showdown took me 3 tries, but that didn’t feel obnoxious. I wish they would tone down the CPU defensive wizardry. But aside from that, I really like where showdown is at these days.

Same. I absolutely hated showdowns at first. I would only do them if it were absolutely needed to finish a program but between 22-23, i started playing them more. I actually don't mind them now.
-
I think it was tougher when we had the moments to complete to get to a mini boss. This is as easy as it gets right now. But ai do agree difficulty ranking makes no difference. I hit much better on AS, so having it on rookie or vet is no advantage unless playing defense.
-
i will say that i am less a fan of all the do or die missions instead of last year where they mixed in moments with our showdown team that we were allowed to fail since I am not using anyone I would normally use sometimes I need to learn their swing in 1 AB. I genuinely don't mind showdown but I would just appreciate not having a do or die every time.
-
If they nerf the showdowns they’re likely going to nerf the progress they award. No thanks. First thing I did in TA2 was showdowns and then moments …. That way I got 2 cards off each division to grind the conquest missions.
-
I don't mind the showdowns, but I've said this a few times here.
The fielding needs to be nerfed. I swear to God that the fielding is set on Legend in these showdowns.
Computer makes every diving catch, every climb up the wall, 50 speed fielders are getting to balls that should be in the gap.
I've been robbed of more home runs and extra base hits in showdowns than all of my other games combined.
