Why do people quit during the choosing pitcher screen on BR?

I started this thread ten mins into trying to get a game going. It is now been 30 mins of people quitting out on me. Mini seasons in broken, haven’t gotten a new conquest map in two weeks and now this. The universe is telling me to play another game.
If it takes my opponent more than a few seconds to select their pitcher; I'll back out.
I never back out, but goodness gracious it takes some people forever to select a pitcher and fix their lineup when it comes to BR. Do they not realize they can set their lineup before they ever try to start a game?

I select as quickly as possible because I thought that might be what is going on.
I know I have good connection because I can run three different teleconference meetings at the same time with no lag.
Let’s face it I have been cursed!!!

If anyone was curious 40 mins and dozens of quit outs and I gave up.

If I hear someone "home hunting" I'm out otherwise if they just go into a game I'm good with that even if I'm visitor.

Can’t say that happens to me, I’m on PS5 with crossplay off, and just ran the BR program. I backed out a couple of times but that was it.

That’s what I do…I was wondering why most games take a while to start…jeeesh

Most of the time I prefer to be away especially in events. Put up a couple runs in the first and so many people will quit before you even pitch

I will scroll up and down a couple times on the select pitcher screen (5 seconds) and if there is lag, I back out and try again until I get a lag free menu. I'm not always home team, but it prevents having to play laggy games. Trying to hit a 97+ mph fastball with lag is unbearable. It has nothing to do with matchups or my opponents skill... it's just a work around to not get stuck in a laggy game. SDS has terrible servers for H2H matches... so I do what I have to do to play a normal game.
