Annoying glitch
-
I was playing someone online this morning in moonshot event.
They're changed a batter mid at bat amd then changed a pitcher mid at bat. How is this able to happen in DD?
-
That isn't a glitch and any manager could do that in RL if they wanted to
-
RL mean real life? Thats incorrect you cannot pinch hit or change pitcher mid at bat unless there's an injury.

Either way, it’s not a glitch. You can change pitchers, or hitters mid at bat.

In the game yes. Actual rules no

MLB Rule 5.10 "Substitutions and Pitching Changes" states in paragraph (a) "A player, or players, may be substituted during a game at
any time the ball is dead. A substitute player shall bat in the replaced player’s position in the team’s batting order." (Link to MLB Rule Book for 2021) and the rule can be found on page 51. This rule has not been changed in the past two seasons.MLB Rule 5.12 "Calling 'Time' and Dead Balls" (page 62 and 63 in the above reference) covers when the ball is dead. There are several times a ball is considered dead, so I won't quote directly from the book, but it is very much possible for the ball to be dead in a middle of an at bat without an injury occurring.
Therefore, it is permissible under MLB rules to change a pitcher or batter in the middle of an at bat. It is not just when an injury occurs, but whenever the ball is declared dead by an umpire (such as when a player, coach, or umpire calls time). This makes SDS's coding to allow this to happen is within MLB rules and also not a glitch. This aspect of the game is working as intended!

Uhhh what?

From MLB rules glossary
Barring injury or illness, the starting pitcher must pitch until at least one batter reaches base or is put out. Any substitute pitcher must pitch until at least one batter reaches base or is put out, or the offensive team is put out in some other manner.

they have the tree batter rule in this game, there is no glitch taking place, you can pinch hit whenever you want, i promise you, no one is using separate pitchers unless they either ended the inning or got through three batters there is no glitch.
-
No I'm tellimg you see my original post. The player I was against both pinch hit once and changed a pitcher once mid at bat. That would be a glitch.
-
Has anyone ever seen a substitution of a pitcher or batter mod at bat in a real MLB game. No. Because you cant do it.

you dont do it in a real game because thats showing a player up, these are computer generated players that are not real life humans, this is not a glitch, hence why you can sub mid at bat. You always have and always can.

If it's the Top of the First and they're the home team...you're correct, you can't substitute the pitcher. I should say, you shouldn't be able to...That's why before the DH, you weren't allowed to Pinch Hit for the Starter if you batted around in the first inning. As far as the hitter goes, you can literally pinch hit whenever you want in an At-Bat.

No, because why would you bring a batter in during a 1-1 count or whatever and make him see less pitches than a 0-0 count?
Same for a pitcher. I mean, you can drive 100mph in a school zone; you'll get arrested, but you "can" still do it.
