This game has flaws in it, as any game does. Lately I’ve been having cards disappear (Topps Kwan) or become unplayable (Flashback Gregory Soto). Occasionally, I’ve seen foul balls 30 rows deep get warped back into play to be caught.

But if you think about it, and compare it to other collection style games… SDS is doing it right! The grind produces usable cards and a lot of them. We just got 10 free in the Charisma series.

Meanwhile in MUT, you have to do 30 challenges to unlock a single card that isn’t even top tier. Or you can buy a $20 pack and still not get a worthwhile card.

I’m not sure if devs ever look at these forums, but if one does… The Show 23 is easily the best sports video game content-wise. I’m an old dude who hasn’t ever had this much fun with SDS.

OK, but the bar is set extremely low if EA is the comparison. Look, I don't hate the game, and while I am not on this years version, it seems buggy as can be from what I see online about it. Additionally, they have completely ignored franchise, and RTTS being forced into tied with DD is a disgrace that not only cheapens DD by having CAP/created stadiums in the game where cheesers abound, but it ruined the replay ability of RTTS as you cannot make a new player and start the journey again.

Ya, RTTS has suffered for a long, long time and has gotten worse every year. And I’ve never even tried to touch franchise cause it is so bare…

But I remember just a few years ago when new cards were extremely rare or had to be purchased in Headliner packs. You gotta admit the amount of content dropped (and free) so far is unheard of in sports games though.

SO...making the game EASIER is a good thing?

    I disagree.

Personally, I'd like it better if it was hard to get the best cards.

I fail to understand what is interesting or fun about playing with a team full of 99s against someone else with a team full of 99s. What does this simulate in the game of baseball?

I am not sure what you are arguing here. I mean I think of that as an all star game. As long as events still keeps it like it is in 2020 where it is much more competitive that would be fine.

However, paying for showdown mode, where it is mandatory to play in order acquire certain cards is not something I like, I also consider moments to be a monumental time sink.

Getting the CAP out of DD would be huge, because it would bring many people who are only offline or mostly offline to keep playing late in the year. Unfortunately, SDS is slowly, but steadily traveling down the path to EA's model of microtransactions being involved in everything.

Look at this year. No real changes, sure Negro Leagues moments, but only a very small taste of the biggest names. I don't doubt they will add more next year, but ignoring popular offline modes that don't generate microtransaction cash, combined with what looks like a downgrade in graphics and sound, and most of the "legends" look like B list players is not what I consider heading in the right direction.

I just feels like they are missing the boat.

I get it...some people think its "fun" to play with teams full of 99s where no team or player has a weakness.

Personally, I think that's a very low level of "fun"...lacking any sort of strategy or intelligence...kind of like potty humor or fart jokes...but whatever.

So...why not just make the mode more interesting by adding some type of Capped or Limited mode?

Whether it's a salary cap you have to work with...or something like a 90 and Under league...or something like Battle Royale, except with the cards you actually OWN instead of a Draft...and 9 innings instead of 3.

Something that actually brings some type of the strategy of building a baseball team into play would be a big plus.

It amazes me how many people think this is the BEST team-building mode simply because it's the EASIEST to get overpowered cards in. Is that the ONLY reason some people play the mode? Jeez...that seems shallow and boring.

Personally, I think the mode could be much deeper, immersive, and strategic...but the community's demand for constant stream of overpowered cards that are EASY to attain does nothing but hold it back.

SDS > EA is like saying you enjoy eating ice cream over feces. No sane person is going to argue this. The challenge is seeing what 2k, OOTP & other devs do better & implementing it to the game— including commentary, franchise/gm mode, etc.
