HOW ARE FREEZE OFFS STILL A THING

I am currently 3-0 in a BR run and up 8-3 in a game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd and get in a freeze off. Going on 8 hours now and the guy won’t leave. Just absolutely ridiculous that this is still an issue.

I could understand if you were at 10 or more wins, But 3?…Dude, Just quit. You would have already surpassed where you were. Instead you just wasted your whole Sunday in a freeze off. And even if he quits, You could easily lose your next one & then you REALLY wasted your time.

Even if that were true, how is it that the system isn't set to know that "player x isn't doing anything. Time him out after 5 minutes and assign a loss"
Hoping you let us know how this ends up. I doubt SDS will do anything.

I feel like freeze offs are user-initiated at this point. Servers have been doing their job this year... fingers crossed... I played a ton of Battle Royale this morning and some Ranked Seasons on Saturday/Sunday and had one "opponent lost connection" prompt which happened this morning in a 0-0 BR game before I had the opportunity to bat in the bottom of the 2nd. Not sure why my opponent decided to head out but I appreciate it. I'm not sure what I would do if I were to get caught in a freeze off... I'd definitely have to go on a case-by-case basis as to if I'd stick it out or just quit/restart and let my opponent have the "W" because stooping to getting the game to freeze/hang is low and apparently you must've needed the "W" more than I did so depending on my mood and the circumstances of the game and my Ranked/BR/Events run I'd might be inclined to let my opponent have the "W"... but definitely would depend on how I feel, because if I can do something else while monitoring the situation I just might do that or if I have to leave the house for an errand or work for example than yeah I might let the "freeze off" happen and take whatever result at the end of it.

From what I can tell the system only does this if you are idle on menu screens or on PS menu screen... I don't think it triggers if you are on gameplay screen... I know I've nodded off on my couch and woke up to orange lights and had to wake my system out of "rest mode"... other times I've set the controller down to do other multitasking and after a certain amount of time elapsed I would get a prompt that my system is going into rest mode in X amount of minutes.

Yeah I get that I just have a really good team and wanted to make a run. I’m likely going to have to just take the L unless he quits by the time I get on tonight
