Please. This game has removed any and all skill gap. That's why all you casuals are in full shill mode.
THIS GAME!? Lmao since ‘18!
Maybe you just aren’t that good? There wasn’t really much of a skill gap in 17 either, same with 16. If we’re saying that there isn’t one now.. Maybe you’re just nostalgia popping because you’re mad..
Good boy.
My friend, if you’re this upset you need to stop playing and stop coming to a forum about the game. It’s only making things worse for you mentally. Also you’ve only played 3 ranked games and only hit .390 in those 3 games on veteran, if you’re going to be complaining about a skill gap you probably should have been hitting .5-600 like the rest of us on veteran..
Good boy.
I see you are a petulant child incapable of responding with any sort of maturity.
I’ll speak your language, time to “gitgud”
You spend alot of time talking about records and blaming peoples skill for their disappointment in your favorite game. I think that makes you a fanboy.
This isn’t my favourite game, it’s a good baseball game that’s better than past versions, still with flaws but it’s not a bad game.
When you say there’s no skill gap you don’t expect people to comment on your skill? Or lack thereof?
No I just don't expect people like you to make it their personal mission to shout down any opposing views.
If your view was anything but incessant complaining about nonsense maybe you wouldn’t get people trying to shut down your “view”
"Oh no someone doesn't like the things i like, I'm triggered."

I still don't understand how you all think these Set 1 cards will become useless come July?
For online play? Yes.
For offline play? Probably not.
But let's say this: if they released cards like they did on the past; wouldn't most of the Silvers, Golds, and low Diamonds s be useless, to some people, when they drop higher rated cards at that time?
For some, I don't think you are worried about cards becoming useless, I think you're upset because you can't beat up on lesser qualified players.
Should this game have a skill gap? Depends on what mode.
And like others have said; it's not the cards, it's the player.
Am I upset that by the time I get Awards Pedro or Finest Chipper; I won't be able to use them online? No. Because I'm not worried about online play.
And beside chances are most of the earlier Set/Season cards, minus the ones in the WBC Program, will x he useful late in the games cycle.
They won't make you collect 200+ cards only to have them mean nothing later in the game's cycle.

While I don't fully agree with the phrase "Pay To Win" as I believe there is still a skill gap, I do think this year has the most aggressive monetization the game has ever employed. That is tied directly to their decision to have seasons and sets.
I'll just use the Cardinals as an example.
Adam Wainwright 100K
Jordan Walker 135K
Jim Edmunds 70K3 players for 300K that can't be used for any meaningful content past July 7th. I can only assume we'll have even more before the end of season 1 and then more in season 2 and 3.
For me to have the best Cardinals theme team all year long it is going to cost me far more stubs, by a large margin, than it ever has in the past. I assume at some point down the line I will need to pay for a different 99 overall card for all three players plus I am sure there will be multiple Musial's, multiple Ozzie Smith cards or Lou Brock cards, etc
It really does feel like I am just paying to rent these players for several months at a time. I am not a fan.
Don't forget all these stubs will have to go to these rental cards and not the live series collection. I don't mind spending 250k on Trout, but when it's spend 250k on Trout or spend 100k on tucker, 40k on Bagwell, 40k on hunter brown, and 80 k on the next astro... all for them to be rendered useless in July... it seems redundant.
I want the Sosa and mark cards, but when everytime I turn on my game I'm being met with a new 99 I can't afford I lose interest.
Oh, I know. I have purchased Edmonds and Walker, who I got for 85K before his card jumped up to the current 135K. The Walker purchase put me down to next to nothing on the stubs front.
I have built back up to 50K in stubs after pulling and selling Buxton and McClanahan and doing the programs and conquest maps.
Wainwright is going to 100K. Arenado Live is going for 90K. Goldschmidt Live for 89K. I need the latter two for the team collection so that I can get Musial and use his captain ability. So that is 280K total that I still need but I am sure some new card will be released before I can accumulate that total.

But don't worry those 90 overall live series will be usable for the whole year!!! Which means nothing considering they are dumping 99s on us every week. Cheers bud! I gooe you last past may!

You don't know ow how much they had to spend to get Jeter in the game.
My guess is that's exactly what they do. And if they do a collection at the end of the year where it's, "collect all the set rewards", then they are worse than I thought.
I'm sure chipper and babe will be available to buy for 1000000 stubs eventually.

For online play? Yes.
For offline play? Probably not.Sure, I can run the US conquest map over and over again, or the base Mini seasons.
But all season three content will not allow these cards, at least that is how I understand it. So, all the new conquests they release won't allow me to use them. Any new Mini Seasons won't allow me to use them.
I wonder if playing with those cards will even grant you PXP you will need to collect for Team Affinity Season 3.
So, while it might not be as restrictive as Online play it will still be restrictive.

Also you won't be using the set 1 cards offline either because you'll be too busy grinding offline pxp for set 3 programs.

Yeah a lot of the skill gaps are gone, like how you don’t have to play away games anymore and can just squint your eyes at the lineup screen and play at home for four straight years after spending 800$ to get the collection the first night. Forget thinking your good, there are literally recipes for pretending to be good!!

I am happy that I don’t have to grind the market for collections, I have not sell any card this year and have a very competitive team (Includes WBC Trout, Trea, Realmuto) and 200K stubs in the bank.
Edit: Only spent money to buy the game, not a single dollar since.

Just curious what are they paying for?
Not much, but hey, 99’s at launch!!!!
I feel like as someone else mentioned 100% more like use your money to get these players bc they’re gone quick (40 days or whatever) but pay to win imo is like years previousb where’s most ppl team atm was 6-7 team affinity cards rated 88 like niko goodrum or Yordan Alvarez, Luis Castillo etc, then rest combo of live diamonds you pulled or headliner. With that you could match up against those that did the live series through paying and that gap was massive. The 99s this year aren’t great of course but your team of 99 wbc players is much closer than previous?

He's blowing smoke anyways... I will play Madden against anybody here that thinks a 99 team is an easy win over an inferior team. You go into MUT H2H with a 99 team and play a better player with a 95 team... you will lose. Seriously anybody wants to talk how Madden is no skill, prove it... let's play... I will let you pick my team.
-
Early on I sold off my WBC cards so I could concentrate on the Live series which are core cards. I need 7 cards for the collection left.
I thought the same as far as the set 1’s expiring and felt it was a waste of time and effort to build on expiring cards.I’ll build up my diamonds to high parallel’s.
-
I really don't think this game feels pay to win at all. I have a good team and haven't even done half the grind available and haven't spent a dime on stubs.

Madden skill gap is knowledge. Mlb skill gap is actual stick skills.
Both games, a superior player with a lesser team will beat an inferior player with a much better team but a 99 vs 95 isn't that big of a differential. You get a 90 over team, still winning? I say no. Only a few guys can do that and they are usually comp guys.
-
There's no way this game is pay to win when having all the best cards doesn't mean [censored] if you still can't hit lol
-
If you think Chipper is that much better than Murakami or even Devers that it's pay to win then you just want a reason to yell at something. One of the 3 collection rewards will be free after like 2 more weeks anyway(there are enough free cards for Trea already). The only pack card you could maybe consider pay to win is Trout, who is half price of the LS Trout anyway
-
I would argue this year is the least pay to win then ever but I honestly don't think it ever was. While there are some very skilled players out there and the strike zone batting view has been honed by some...this game always felt random to me. Patience isn't rewarded and too many online games are won by hitting a ball out of the park on a pitch location that would be scientifically impossible to do. Even offline in Showdown I have had many times I can't do squat with my Diamonds and Golds only to complete the challenge by smashing a HR or RBI double with a common card with [censored] ratings.
I understand frustration with online play but pay to win isn't one but that's just my opinion.
