Can someone please explain what happens as set cards sunset?
-
Sorry, I’m sure this has been explained a bunch but I can’t find it. If you can’t use set 1 in season 3, what happens to the cards/money you have invested in set 1? Do they just begin to lose value as season 1 and 2 wear on, forcing you to sell them for very little compared to what you paid, and then they disappear from being usable in Ranked season 3? What’s the gameplan for folks who have set 1 cards and want value for them as season 3 approaches? Are there options to exchange set 1 for newer set cards or do you have to sell them in a sever buyer’s market to get any value back?
Thanks for any information.

You could keep them, there are a lot who think they will be useable again later on,
always will be useable in play vs cpu, some CQ maps and some mini seasons.
and the cards may be needed in collections down the road -
SDS should just remove the set cards. The idea is very stupid. Who wants to grind just to keep 1 card past July? It sounds like a decision someone who doesn't grind made up to punish grinders.

U can use them for offline grinds

The most common mistake is see ppl making is confusing not useable in set 3 with not useable again.
We don't know what set 4 5 or 6 will be like or after 6 -
Ramone takes them away and uses them against you online.

They go to a farm upstate where they can play year round and they’re always supercharged.

I’ve been collecting mine towards the set one collection, so they won’t be sellable anyway.

I’d assume there is a huge drop off in price near the season 2 end, and even further once people clue in when it does end. The only reason Set 1s won’t reach near quick sell value, is collecting about 60 in addiction to the non sellable set 1 cards gives you Chipper, Ruth, or Pedro or multiple if you collect more.
SDS will cleverly make these three massively popular players usable again and the prices will most likely sky rocket for set 1 down the road because the cards will be dried up and also no longer in packs.
They’ve said there will be season with “all sets” so eventually they will be usable again. If you don’t plan on collecting I’d sell with 2 weeks left in season 2 unless the drops starts sooner and use non sellables. Then when set 3 comes out you’ll be able to buy whoever you want with the stubs you don’t lose through the season end.
