Throw canceling

I have it turned on. If I mess up the initial throw then there is no chance for a makeup. My only option is to a different base. Even after a 3rd try back to original base it defaults to initial bad result. I swear I have seen opponents mess up the throw only to recover and still get me out at 1st. How is this done? Do I need cancel throw off? Are they going to the wrong bag initially and correcting to 1st base? I'm pretty sure no runners were on so I'm not so sure that is the case of a mistaken throw to wrong base.

I've kinda noticed this to. I'm not able to cancel throws and recover the same as past years.
