Pitchers aren't 100% accurate...just like real baseball. (Pinpoint Negated)
"My perfect perfects aren't always hits!!"
Not every squared up ball is a hit like in real baseball (perfect perfect negated)
Mlb 2022 teams were averaging 0.91 homeruns a game.....why is pretty much every run scored off homeruns in mlb the show?
Yankees were 1.56. The highest
Is it fair to say this isn't realistic? I guess the argument would be well were are "using" legends like Mickey mantle and Sammy sosa....well there not playing right now...so this automatically makes it unrealistic...and fantasy like? If it's not realistic and fantasy like that makes it a A VIDEO GAME...
Shouldn't perfect perfects be 98% hits? Since this isn't realistic baseball and a arcade like video game where u can use directional where the game squares up the ball for you by pressing one button?

My last game was a Ranked Co-op game. My teammate and I combined for 3 home runs and we threw a shutout.
What park do you play at? I prefer pitchers parks and tend to not give up bomb after bomb, which I would say is “realistic”

Couldn’t agree more it’s a video game it should be fun clearly realistic would just be boring, but they manage to be in between every year

My last game was a Ranked Co-op game. My teammate and I combined for 3 home runs and we threw a shutout.
What park do you play at? I prefer pitchers parks and tend to not give up bomb after bomb, which I would say is “realistic”
My last game was also co op. My teammate and I combined for 2 home runs (he hit both) and, despite out opponents bunt cheesing efforts, we threw a perfect game with Nolan Ryan. It was awesome!!

But how are people playing the mode compared to how real MLB players do?
Everyone who plays is trying to hit a homer every at bat. Then they get mad when there are too many dingers.
No one is shortening up their swing in this game. But you will see situational baseball in a real game. Yes, even in the year 2023.
I've actually had some success swinging for Contact in online games. This is like a major no-no for The Show players, so you never see it happen. And thus, all you see is a game dominated by homers and strikeouts.

I am ok with not a ton of homers, I just don't like the unrealistic homers. I lost a game on Tony Gwynn hitting a 450 foot bomb once, and no doubt homers on pitches less than an inch off the ground are super rare in real life, but happen way too frequently for my liking online.
That said, I would prefer dealing with a home run contest then a string of cheesers. I am using contact swing based on the count, my success in recognizing where the ball will be going (not good enough at pitch recognition yet), and the batter.

That’s certainly part of it, but even if that’s the case there still shouldn’t be nearly any homers. If you get a good timing good PCI, it’s a home run. Liners, grounders down the line, balls into the gap, etc are barely a thing. Contact swinging shouldn’t be the only way these occur

This is where I'm at too. I'm not good online, I know I'm going to lose more than I win. I don't mind giving up HRs on bad pitches or just good pieces of hitting. I just get annoyed when you make a pitchers pitch (sinker, change, curve, splitter 6 inches below the zone, goes from strike to ball, etc) and the opponent just crushes it.
