It is a salary cap mode, it’s just real dollars and the cap is unlimited.

First off, you move the cap up and down.
Maybe the cap is a NUMBER and not just a certain number of Diamonds, Golds, Silvers, etc?
26 roster spots. Maybe the number starts at 2000? The OVR rating is the cap number. You want 5 99s...okay...well now you have 1505 points to fill out your remaining 21 roster spots.
Putting a mode like this in place would also allow SDS to release even more historic content without it being caught up in the "power creep". A 84 rated "Rookie" Gold card in June? WTF SDS!!!
Not anymore. Especially if that card is for a popular player or has very good ratings at a specific SKILL.
I don't know...I guess I thought of all the games the community for The Show would be the most open to an actual STRATEGIC mode in their team building mode? DD in it's current state, at least as far as playing Online goes, is way less STRATEGIC than both Madden and 2K. That's saying alot.

I always equated Salary Cap mode to Events because in Madden when Salary Cap was popular the team building was done in the same fashion where you had restrictions and if you wanted to stack your team you had to make sacrifices in other areas... come to think of it I haven't heard much about Salary Cap in recent years from Madden NFL and NBA 2K, is that mode still even in those games?
The event had one time a couple years back had a rating cap which was awesome because you did see different players game to game and made you use players you may have used. Maybe thats something they should go back too.

People always think that their idea will change the basic instinct of the average gamer, but it won't. Also making the one mode where you can have any team you want would put a serious hurting on microtransactions which no business would be a fan off.

SDS was very specific in their "feature video" that the extreme changes to Diamond Dynasty, releasing all of these end game cards on day one, was because people saw the same lineup every game as last year progressed. We are two weeks in and you face, at minimum, the same 7 guys every game.
This was a horrific idea.
I know it's too late for this season but for the love of god make some sort of salary cap mode in Ranked for next season. Then release all of the cards you want but at least make the lineups a little more challenging to put together.
Literally every other game does it in their "Ultimate Team" mode in one way or another. Sure, in Events there are limited cards you can use but you still get the same lineups. It's such a shame, the gameplay and feel is tremendous this year, but the long term playback of the game this year is just not sustainable like this.
you'd see the same line ups in salary cap mode as well.
Exactly... all you have to do is nerf your bench, the back end of your rotation and majority of your bullpen, especially with the use of DH now... find the lowest commons/bronzes to put on your bench that have decent to great speed and/or power and do the same with bullpen arms... depending on how stamina works get 3 of your best starters and nerf the last two since they'll most likely never see the mound if stamina works in your favor.
every YT account would post videos saying "BEST POSSIBLE SALARY CAPPED MODE SQUAD"
everyone would rock the same squads, its just the nature of online gaming, everyone is competitive and wants to win.
It doesn't matter. Those who just follow the YT creators like lemmings would use the same lineups...but the rest of us would not.
We're basically forced to use all these JUICED 97s and 99s now to even jump into a Ranked game...unless you like playing at a huge disadvantage.
Something needs to be changed or added. Because this 99s from Day 1 nonsense has made this mode brainless, boring, and stale.
the majority would use the best possible low cap squads to win, thats the nature of online gaming.

Madden and 2k have 0 strategy involved, madden the only strategy is plopping on abilities to your players, on top of that AKA cards in madden this year with glowing x factors, quadfather , yeah totally strategy involved for madden

Everyone goes for the higher number in that shiny blue diamond at the top corner of the card. No one is gonna use a 94 regardless of the captains boost as long as there is a 97 available.
That's why I'm just going to play in my CPU grind bubble for awhile... I'm actually enjoying playing with some cards right now that I didn't expect... my favorite card right now is Live Series Austin Riley... never thought I'd say that, can't wait to get his Captain card and see what happens with that card... I'm sure going online with my team will be a different ballgame though (no pun intended).
Riley’s 92 captain card is fantastic. Great swing that I do well with. He will stay in my lineup until a better one of his comes along.

Most people would tell you that the mode you describe is BR. But I have long been a proponent of a salary cap style RS mode that features nine inning games. The problem with that is it takes money out of SDS pocket. Releasing new 99’s all the time generates more revenue from microtransactions.
this or tbh I think events need a total rehaul but steps at a time

I'm am discovering so many cards and I love it... I've only touched the NL East so far and I can't wait to see what I can do with the other divisions... I'm supposed to "hate" the Braves but when I put that Gold Veteran Adam Duvall in my lineup and I'm in awe at the bombs that I'm hitting with him... I guess it also helps that I started raking with my Captain Pete Alonso... lol

It took me forever to get the 3 HRs... finally said f it, let me see if I can hit these HRs at Coors... played against Rockies on Rookie and hit 2 HRs in that game, then like two games later hit the 3rd and I've been raking with Alonso ever since... I've been crushing the ball with LS Riley so hopefully I can do the same with CPT Riley... not going to put pressure on myself like I did with Pete though... that might have been why because I was thinking to myself "I hit a BOMB with BRONZE LS Baty, hitting with this DIAMOND CPT Alonso should be a breeze" lol

It would not matter. It is the gamer's skill, not the cards, that wins H2H RS games. Card ratings matter most, when the players are at similar skill level. Other than that, higher skilled players would not have a problem consistently beating teams of Diamond 99s with their Silver or Gold rosters.

NBA2K refers to them as Limited and Unlimited. It's essentially like Events as Limited is only available on weekends but same concept like, only 1 pink diamond card allowed, etc...
I realize this will never happen because I can't even imagine the amount of money spent already on teams so SDS is understandably loving this. Maybe Season 2 will feel different. BTW, is that timer ever going to change from "50 Days Left"?
