Anybody thinks the Live series collection isn’t worth it?

The Angels collection alone is over 450k on PS. The. NL collection may be worthwhile, but there is no way I’m touching the AL collection without significant pack luck.
Thanks to the Rangers, the AL west is 800k give or take.

I completed the LS collection because being a Yankees fan that grew up during the Jeter led dynasty, I didn’t want to wait until August to get him. So far he has hit more homers for me than Sosa or McGwire and that’s with no boosts. And not cheap ones either - Center field no doubters. He actually is a great card. And while he may not be worth “the cost” to non Jeter fans, You will need him for all future big collections.
I have no idea how you’ve done it. Margins are thin flipping and I’m only at 86K stubs right now.
I bought $800 worth of stubs.
-
One thing though, those LS collections can be used all year. Cards like the 99 Trout, 99 Gehrig ect, are season 1 only.
-
You are correct in that Jeter is underwhelming when compared to Randy last year. I completed LS last year at the end of April and Randy was on my team until he was replaced with the new Randy. Two things I'm concerned with about the LS this year. One is will they update player Overalls more aggressively? This will keep them relevant longer. I think SDS is making a move toward this with the intro of Captains boosting LS cards for each team. Second, the value of the rewards will hold value and maybe even go up. Right now not a huge deal but any cards from the LS including the rewards can be used all year. It will be interesting to see how these Set Seasons play out. But you are correct, with WBC, captains and Charisma guys, there is not a huge need for LS cards in one's lineup. Usually the high 80s and low 90s are good early game lineup guys, but most everyone in my lineup 4 days in is a 92 or above.

Last year we had Randy Johnson who was just a nightmare to deal with for quite awhile but this years master Jeter doesn’t compare to what Randy was last year. Sure he looks amazing but I don’t see him having the same impact Randy did.
McGwire and Sosa look good as well but they’re not worth the millions of stubs spending to get them. I basically did the collection last year specifically cause of Randy and seen how dominant he was. I just don’t see the value being worth it this year. Anybody else feel that way?
I have managed to get everything done except for Trout and Ohtani. I’m happy to wait for them as Jeter/McGwire weren’t as interesting to me as Sosa, who so far has been killing it for me in the Event.

It's not just about the 3 big rewards though... a lot of the exclusive cards you get from this will be used throughout the year to help with other collections. If you completely skip this... it will make it a lot more difficult to complete other big collections later on. I'm trying to go all out on the LS collection to finish as soon as possible before I do anything else with stubs. I've been selling off everything and only spending stubs on LS cards until it's done. BTW... those 3 cards you say aren't that great look great to me, and looking forward to using Mcguire and Sosa for the first time in the Show.
Heya pal
The real Busta?

Last year I completed the live series in just a couple days. This year I'm not prioritizing as the other cards should be plenty good. Yes, you'll need those cards for collections but probably not anytime soon. Usually the first big collection of that type isn't for at least a couple months. By then I suspect those big 90+ cards will have gone down in price, and some will have gone below 90 via live updates and will be cheap.

I agree but I am a Jeter fan who is happy to see him in the game so im excited. I will just chase free packs, stubs and grind the market to complete the collections free of charge. You can do it organically and get them throughout the year too.
-
Live Series will play a larger role once the season starts and we get Supercharged, Insider Edge and Upgrades/Downgrades every three weeks.
For me the Live Series collections are more so about the Team Captains collection rewards than the overall rewards although I do want that Jeter even though getting the 92 Jeter isn't a bad consolation... not to mention the Free 86 that can get boosted with the David Wright Cover Athlete Captain card that I opted to grab from my free Captains pack.

Even $800 in stubs, you probably had some great pack luck. I spent probably more than that on stubs so far and I still need Trout, Ohtani, and DeGrom, 5 Golds, and a bunch of lower tier cards....but I also bought a lot of non-LS cards. The other thing is, I pulled 99 Trout, 99 Ohtani, 99 Ketel so I didn't feel the pull to get cards like Sosa/McGwire. I am a New Yorker but I am also a Mets fan...Though I always liked Jeter. I only locked in the NL East even though I have 40/40 of almost every team because I am not sure it is worth it to do yet.....I may want to sell some for stubs to buy other non-LS cards

Not only are the collection rewards not as great as years past. We have way too many cards to use to play online with. In past years live series cards could be used for a few months online, and this year without a supercharged card most live series have a better or equal free card to use.
-
Pulled Trout already so I'll be working on LS collection. Hopefully pull a few more good diamonds with packs from programs and mini seasons. If the Season 1 rewards were good for the whole year that Babe Ruth and Chipper would be #1 priority.

Trea Turner is 95% of the card that Jeter is and he's basically free with grinding. Jeter is simply a BAD value...same with Mark Since there's several max power cards out there for much cheaper.
I made a long post in here last week - Jeter and Mark won't have value until Set 1 expires in July. Even then, there will be set 2 cards comparable or better!

No pack luck, I never buy packs. I bought the stubs & then put in sell now orders on ALL cards. Never paid asking price for a single card. That’s how I was able to do the collection…Best of luck whichever direction you decide to go.

I was feeling that way a bit. I was like "do I really want to grind out these sets and purchases again?" Then I pulled Judge from a Ballin' free pack and it kick started my drive to grind.
I'm an OCD Completionist. I knew I couldn't make it past 2 days. -
