It would be a waste of money for me to buy an expensive TV or gaming monitor, because the flaws in my game go beyond bad timing. Even with more precise timing, I'll still never make contact with that breaking ball way out of the zone that I stupidly couldn't resist the urge to swing at.
I can see where better technology would benefit a good player who just needs a little bit of an edge to take their game to the next level, but bad players like me will always be bad no matter what they play on.
You'll never get better with that attitude and I promise a good monitor would hel. Even you....
Now there's a thread on Reddit asking the devs not to make Franchise mode harder because it'll discourage people from playing it.
The already bare bones Franchise......
What happened to learning the game you want to play? Stevie Wonder can see how this game has been dumbed down over the last 6 years.
Anybody who learned zone hitting years ago when coming from directional or button knows you took your lumps online until you learned PCI placement. I came from Madden and NHL where stick skills really mattered and zone wasn't easy at first.
You're a straight up liar if you don't think this PCI anchor nonsense can still be considered Zone hitting.
Anyway, that's not the point. I grew up playing sports games. Loved them all. Didn't play nothing else. But I can remember watching my younger brother play Tomb Raider and he'd spend a hour just trying to jump from one ledge to another.
Can you imagine that today? In a world where after 1 home run or giving up the lead your opponent quits 40% of the time. Good luck in 23 boys. No more dog fights for me against buddy who can't identify the pitch and just swings at everything.

Pitching is definitely faster on the test . I also think think the timing window is smaller. Which is good imop. I play mostly hof and it was brutal at times.
On that note been playing 22 and it's a laggy mess today. Hamsters must be old .

For years the game would always play wonky when they're working behind the scenes on the new one.
I talked to my cousin today who hasn't played on a console since about 2015-2016. I told him that a guy could be sitting in class on a Switch and it's 4-5 inch screen and still compete against your XBOX X and $400 4k blah blah blah monitor.
He couldn't believe it. I said it's to make it easier and to hook guys playing.
He then proceeds to tell me OOTP has basically turned into diamond dynasty. Different cards and everything. Card investing and all. These modes have ruined everything.

Thanks for the warning on OOTP. I had known about the game for years, and it always got great reviews, but never got around to it. Was considering getting it if I don't get 23.
Now I may skip another year if I get 2020 done.

I would argue that playing on an average, low-cost monitor makes hitting infinitely better. I started last year on DD in midsummer, and I played on my TV. At best I hit the 800's in ranked, but sat in the 600-700 and was like .220 hitter online. Started using a cheap monitor (my old all-in-one PC) and hitting became so much easier. Now I've been in World Series for the last two seasons and about .750-.800 winning percentage on BR and Events. Its crazy how much of a difference it makes. I think people would be surprised how much better they actually are on a different monitor. I'm 39 btw so I ain't no spring chicken either.

I think biggest problem in online play is incosistency in connection. I'm playing on monitor and when I played a lot online in MLB 21 I was able to destroy DeGrom on AS difficulty in one game, I saw everything perfectly and in the next game I wasn't able to see 95 fastball.
I still think, that console players should not be pushed into playing on monitor to see the ball in console game. Maybe it would be better if SDS would focus on making hitting harder not by pitch speeds, but making it more precise like making pci much smaller.
Or just give us some veteran difficulty RS with worse rewards. It would be much more fun for me

I don’t agree with everything you say but Card collecting modes have definitely been the downfall of quality sports games. Once they started coming up with these and knew they were money makers all innovations for other modes went out the window. Franchise mode in sports games used to be so much more in depth, Madden 20 years ago had so much more to its franchise mode. The Show at the start was adding features each year and then once DD started boom, same franchise every year basically.

In fairness to ootp, that game is crazy deep in options and whatnot already so as far as innovations go, not a whole lot more than can do. I've played ootp since day 1, one of the few who had the original games, and I can say the game is solid though wonky at times like all things made to run with AI. The "perfect team" mode isn't that difficult to build a good team, though it's not my favorite mode.
I do agree though that the ultimate team modes have destroyed sports games in general. Minimal effort (so it seems) to concentrate on making more money for packs and whatever else. Which is a shame because games are beyond frustrating when content is good but the gameplay is frustrating

Weirdly when I watch all the big shots play on Twitch the pitches look a lot slower than when I play online.

Actually, they switched to gerbils 3 months ago as they are cheaper than hamsters.

I don't know why people keep waiting for this POS to get better. It is what it is and it's what you got for the remainder of its cycle. I still have a hard time understanding how this was even considered for sports game of the year. It was probably their biggest profit ever with the absolute least amount of effort put into it throughout the year to make it any better.
I guess that's why I am optimistic about 23 being much much better.

What’s your list of sports games of the year curious

LOL, I see your point but I never watched real ball and thought I could hit it. Standing in against a Major League pitcher would scare the H__l out of me.
it wouldnt scare me, but it reminded me of how i tried to play a semi pro game without any cage work 3 years after i hate played my final game....team didnt have enough players and my old teammates younger brothers asked me to play , dudes were tossing it 75-85 and i couldnt touch it with a prayer lol. everyone started cheering for me just to get a piece lol

I'll never get better because I'm a casual player and I honestly don't really care about improving. Fortunately for more hardcore players like you, I have zero interest in playing online unless there's a program I want to complete that absolutely requires it.
I don't believe a monitor would help me because the flaws in my game go beyond issues with timing. I don't helplessly flail at pitches way out of the zone because I was slow to react. Most of the time I knew exactly where the pitch was going but I was an idiot and swung anyway lol.
