Since I’ve completed all other content and still need Mantle, I took the advice of some here and jumped on BR. However, I don’t know if it’s just my games, how I play, or my setup, but it’s almost unplayable for me.

I used button pitching, but none of my pitches come anywhere close to where I aim them. It’s so bad, I just pitch and pray. I get that analog pitching is the most accurate, but it shouldn’t be that bad. I’ve even used 99 overall pitches and still can hit spots within the same zone.

Additionally, I’ve had guys with 99 speed and 99 steal who are getting thrown out by a mile. They get a good jump, the catcher is a gold player, and still thrown out.

What am I missing here? I feel like my skill is irrelevant when I play this mode, which makes it no fun

Also with your stealing issue are you leading of the bag? cause if you're not and the catcher has a good arm and gets a perfect throw there's a good chance that you're thrown out

Yes, I’m leading off the bag and getting a good jump. That’s why it’s so strange.

Stealing is like a coin flip, having good stealing attributes helps but it is still a coin flip in this game.

I too thought BR wasn’t for me. The advice I received was golden. Don’t worry so much about the wins as you do the points.

Do the missions. When you draft, focus on cards that will get the missions done. After 100 points, there are no more special cards to get, so I stopped there.

I have a spreadsheet that lays out the program. If you want it, let me know.

    Also, I use pulse pitching.

You just need to get the timing down to when the circle will be the smallest. I count internally and tap my thumb to get the rhythm and then mash the button when I have the beat right.

Remember, when your pitchers get tired, they become less accurate, the timing changes, as does the smallest size of the circle.

Pitching in BR is no different than in conquest.

You should play the way you feel most comfortable. Mess around with other techniques in CPU games.

You can do it. Just focus on the missions. If you get wins, great! If not, draft again.

    Good luck.

You are not missing anything. The games are all pre simmed by SDS' AI. If you are doing too good they cheat you to ensure your game stats match up with what their sim had.

Too many times I would have a pitcher with max control like Maddux, have a guy that chases all over the place, but when you get perfect release on a pitch aimed into the dirt, the other batters box, or at chin level, the pitch magically goes down the middle for free home runs.

I tried an experiment last night. I got to where none of my pitches went where I was aiming, so I started throwing right down the middle, and sure enough, even with perfect control the pitches would end up miles outside the zone.

All you can do is grind out the game until it becomes unbearable.

Just be aware that Classic button pitching is the worst for hitting your spots and will get hammered by opposing batters. I have been using Analog since 16 so that's what I'm used to. Pinpoint is better if you can master it. Just forget about winning in BR because it only gives you 1 point. Do the program and draft Rookies, Veterans, All Stars and Breakouts and try to get the programs finished with those to go forward. Winning does help advance you but getting the program numbers done helps you better. Draft Silver and Bronze pitchers is my advice. Frankly it feels to me like the pitch speed on BR plays more like Veteran than AS. I'm still not good enough to go 12-0 lol but I did go 6-2 once.

I abandoned BR completely since for me it's like paying 1500 stubs for one gold player. I have gotten to the point where I can get 4 wins, so I guess I am finally starting to improve, but I feel that for me doing events works better since it's no cost and I win the same amount of cards. Thankfully I am making some progress of late on player programs, so hopefully by end of spring I won't have to be online as much.

I look at it like this. I probably paid for 10 entries at $1500 and got to 100 points and picked 99 Mike Trout. So for $15,000 I got Trout instead of paying $1M for him and waiting in line.

I got a lot of cards that I needed. I probably made 20 or so entries. But, I made so many stubs, that, in the end, it didn't cost me a single thing to play all those games. Well, except for my ego...I did have to take a few breaks and play some CPU games to fix my broken ego with all of the losses I got in the program.

Don't play BR to win games.
    Just do the program.
BR is by far the most broken part of the game.
You're right-- your skills are meaningless in BR.

Stealing is broken and unreliable. Bunting is broken and unreliable.

The game online is all about hitting home runs or striking out.
