Yeah its a tad less stars
Define "a tad"
Showdown is all or nothing and is 70 points.
Last year 1st inning had over 160 points and you could pick and choose which ones you wanted to do.Obviously its all or nothing but Showdown +Granderson +Wood is 110. I think everyone expected a 3rd player program even though we wont get it which would have brought the total to 130. So yeah, 30-50 stars is a tad, that can be easily made up through daily missions. Not to mention, on the program screen it says “stage 1”. Unless it is just a visual bug from other programs/team affinity using it im willing to bet there will be a stage 2

I completely agree with the OP. I have exactly the same feelings. I do not like online play, just a personal preference. However, to complete and earn cards SDS is attempting to make people do just that.

Whether or not you believe the OP should be at 300 stars or not, there's no doubt that there is less content in the game this year. Last year you had tons of 1st inning moments, Cubs moments program, Mays, Ruth, Harper, Sony partners, a bunch more conquest maps, etc. You can't just say they replaced it with Showdown, it's the same. It's clearly not.
Those Mays, Ruth, Harper missions were 100x more difficult than any showdown and weren’t even related to the program. They were just missions for those specific, not even bench worthy, cards.
There is a LOT of content in this game and obviously there is some downtime right now.
But also consider SDS is not immune to what’s going on in the world. They most likely laid off all of their part time employees which includes interns... who are probably the ones drawing up these moments, maps, etc.
For real though. This is just a complaint post because OP wants to just play offline and not even vs CPU. They gave offline players showdown to make up for the rest but players just want to go in there swinging at every pitch and say it’s too hard.

Too late for a stage 2 for 1st Inning, unless it is very short and unlike stage 1.

You do realize that showdown is basically free and completely offline mode if u want to complain bf you can’t get 300 stars then maybe yup should do the [censored] showdown
I have attempted the Showdown. I have failed miserably. Chances are I will attempt it even more times before the first inning is complete. But if I still can't beat it then those 70 points don't help at all.
That sounds like a personal problem to me and it's not up to SDS to hand you more options (since imo there are already plenty). Complete the daily rewards and play the game and earn more.
No, it is not required that they hand my ways to earn points but don't you think that it is in their best interest to keep me, and other players like me, interested and motivated to keep playing as ling as possible.
That's where "just playing the game" comes in. Too many people are complaining about the lack of things to do when the game is literally right in front of you. Also as I mentioned above, patience, there will be a 3rd set of missions coming, probably this week tbh.
I hope you are right about more missions. The calendar does not show another player mission. I hope that they just failed to mention it.
I don't expect any stand alone missions as there is not even a heading for them in the inning program. Looks like they will all be tied to programs.

Really? You think expert computer programmers are unable to work from home? Gaming is one industry that should be the least affected by social distancing. Your last paragraph is idiotic.

It's possible that they're just moments not tied to a player but standard rewards. I'd imagine it would of been preserved for a Topps Now card for opening week, but obviously that can't happen.

How is completing all three Conquest maps. Playing MTO. Completing Granderson and Woods programs not playing against the CPU?

Any game you play with your DD team even against the cpu counts towards stars.
I realize that but it feels like meaningless grinding though and meaningless grinding for 20-30 more hours is not appealing at all.
Dont know how long it will take; but you could replay the US Conquest Map and not only play the strongholds, but play the Steal Fans games.

You don’t think they had to lay off people just because they can work from home? Not to mention the MLB season is completely shut down which was probably A massive a part of their content plan. My last paragraph is idiotic or just true? Because the only way you don’t beat showdowns are swinging at bad pitches.

I play offline and have not done showdown and I'm just about at 500 stars.

You're still looking at 20-30 more hours. You, at best, earn 1 program star per 3 inning game. You can play 3 to 4 games an hour. So 10 hours for 30 to 40 points.

Exactly. They gave you all of that. Even online players have to play actual games to hit the goals.

And according to your profile you have done so by averaging 9 hours every day since early release. That is just not realistic for most players.

That’s just the nature of any DD type game. Why do you want an all 99 team? To blow through conquest once a month?
Also, why did you expect anything to be different? Did you see the streams before hand? They showed what was going to be available this first round of content.
-
One trick is that with some of these moments they take place at the end of an inning, and you can snag some pretty significant XP that way. And I think every 2000 XP gives you a program point for each inning.
-
a friend of mine said this and couldn't be more bang on accurate - "Offline player b1tching on TSN about there not being enough to grind in DD. I’m thinking, “Why are you grinding anyway? To improve your squad to only play the CPU? Why not go into Franchise, put the cards you’re grinding for on your team, and play as much as you want?”"
