Have To Play Showdown To Finish Finest Program?

That's what the math shows, right? Or are they going to release other ways to get points to get to Carter. From what I can tell without doing the Showdown, you can only get to 84 points, I think.

Yes, but it’s one of those easier ones even dorks like me can finish.

I'll let you know if that's true.

I finished on first attempt and I can concur I am a dork.

My problem with showdown is 2 of the last 3 times against the boss, the “connection is lost” and it counts as a loss. The only mode this ever happens on.
-
That’s to prevent people from dashboarding the moments. Stinks, but I get it.

I hate Showdown and Online Events. I don’t like when the developers force you to do these to finish a program that’s offline. Should be able to finish an offline program simply with grinding.
-
OR make it possible to complete a task continuously similar to monthly rewards.

I have slowly started to kinda sorta (gasp!) enjoy Showdown now that the vast majority (or even all?) are formatted to be a series of mini-boss showdowns. The part that I hated about previous iterations was that so much time was wasted on the blue mini missions that didn’t really account for all that much. I remember in the earliest versions there were times we had to essentially play multi-inning games for a reward of a single run, a silver player, and a useless silver quirk. Such a waste of time, and it felt hard to get motivated to play up to the challenge when so little was on the line. I like it a lot more now that each mission is a do-or-die and you usually get a decent amount of runs and usable drafts. I’m a 99% offline player, so perhaps I’m just more open to anything other than Conquest maps (but don’t get me wrong — conquest is still my favorite, go-to game mode… but the new showdown style isn't so bad as an alternative).

Ony been playing since 20 and I have to agree 100% on the showdowns. Save moments for moments and let the showdown be an elimination series.

Yes I wish all programs can be done just be grinding for xp

Morning all, I completed this last night relatively easily and I'm not great by any means. My hitting is my weak spot but I won 4 of the 6 rounds on walk off HRs. And never got below 5 outs. Just focus on swinging at pitches in a certain spot. Once they've given up a few hits or thrown several pitches, they weeken..

You can only get 78 points without doing the Showdown. You can get 104 if you do it. Makes no sense why they set it up that way. They should have let us get to 84, but since you can't do Gagne or the guy after him until you have them you are stuck at 78 and lose out on 3 cards.

Nope. You lose out on the last 3 cards.

Took me about 10 times to beat the Finest Showdown. Kept losing to Wheeler. Finally survived him and got beat by Maddux. Redid it and finally got thru it.
The secret was drafting one of the greatest MLB THE SHOW cards in history : Charlie Blackmon Finest MLB the show 17.
He hit a walk off HR against Wheeler for me and followed up with a walk off Hr against Maddux next game.
Gagne was easy to defeat as you only need one run with I think 20 outs.
I must say it was a very fun experience.

Thanks for the answers, all. Appreciate it. Guess I'm going to have to do the Showdown.
-
This was the easiest showdown ever. I do not do showdown unless I have to.

Schwarber for me hit a walk off vs Maddux that save me to get it done first try

They will have Last Chance Missions, maybe one final Conquest with the teams that weren’t in the East, Central and West ones and maybe a third set of moments.
