    Hello All,

I have played for years but not competitively much. I hear many people talk about active quirks. I would just like to know what that means. As I understand it, a player can have "quirks" on his card but they may not be "active quirks" so I am a bit confused.

Any help (God knows I need it) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone.

Most quirks are just based off of attributes, such as bomber for having 85 or 90 in power. These are inactive quirks.

Active quirks are situational-based quirks such as the "pinch hitter" quirk where he will get a slight boost coming off the bench to bat. The other active quirks are breaking ball hitter, pop time, day/night player, dead red, fighter, first pitch hitter, homebody, outlier I and II, pickoff artist, pressure cooker, rally monkey, road warrior, situational hitter, stopper, and unfazed.

I believe they also only apply to active players with cards for this season (I could totally be wrong). Example- All Star 22, Finest 22, Playoff 22 etc.

Not necessarily as there are plenty of legends with active quirks...

Randy and many other legend pitchers have Outlier...

Pudge and Bench having Catcher Pop Time...

However, I don't know if there are any legends with active hitting quirks though.

Most of them, yes, you are correct. Some listed, such as the Outliers are available to all pitchers, e.g Awards Pedro. I also believe catcher pop time and pressure cooker are seen on other cards as well.

I'm pretty sure Pressure cooker isn't an active quirk. Almost every card has it.

I was just going by what was listed in the original response. I don’t know if it is or isn’t, but I don’t feel it makes a difference. I’m not sure if it’s just me. An active quirk is a quirk that makes the card perform better, usually in certain situations. The rest just are based off a player’s attributes. So a lot of cards can have it and it still be an active quirk.

Imo the only active quirks that matter are dead red and BB hitter(besides outlier and pop time). The rest of them just increase contact and after a certain point more contact doesn't matter. Active quirks are mostly placebo I feel but whatever works for everyone
