Looking at Black Friday deals, it looks like Sams and Costco both are going to have a pretty good deal on an Xbox series S.
Well, I’m still using my PS4. But it looks like the new NCAA game will be next Gen only, so it’s looking like it’s time to move on.
Anyways… I’m only going to play 1 or 2 games (when ncaa comes out). I’ll usually bang out the programs at the beginning and over the summer before high school football really begins to ruin my schedule.
Just confirming, you do have to have game pass or Xbox live for Diamond Dynasty, correct? Is it worth it over the long run to renew game pass or live versus just getting a PS5?
Help me weigh out my odds to see about buying a series S or just shelling out the money for a PS5.
Thanks,
Yes need xbox live or gamepass, gamepass is 150% worth the money if you want to play this game and have the option to play about 150 others. I usually own every console, but I won’t go back to Sony after getting gamepass.
In your opinion, with the type of gamer I am, would there be enough of a discrepancy between a series S or X?
The only real difference in the two from my knowledge is hard drive size, I have an X and I find it a bit more convenient to have the larger hard drive but I think you would be fine with the S and its 250 GB.
No i don’t think it’s just HD size that’s the difference
Series X is the counterpart to PS5
The series S is is not as powerful as the Series X
But that’s if you care about that sort of stuff(graphics and speed)
Correct, there's quite a bit of difference between the two. If you're going to buy one, buy the X.

If you get the Series S, buy 3 years of Xbox Live for $50-60 each. I would be surprised if it didn't go on sale for $50 a year during Black Friday deals. You can then upgrade the 3 years of Live to 3 years od Game Pass Ultimate for $1.
This only works if you do not currently have a Game Pass subscription. For example, mine expires in a few weeks. Once it expires, I will be able to load up another 3 years of Live and upgrade to Ultimate. If I added 3 years of Live now, it would be converted to Ultimate at a lower rate. I forget the ratio.

My son has the S, and he doesn't have Stadium Creator, so there is definitely a difference between the S and X consoles.

Seriously? That blows

I know. I was shocked. I was talking about creating a stadium (I have a PS5), and he told me he didn't have it.

You're either mistaken, or he somehow downloaded the Xbox One version. I had the Series S last year and used stadium creator in 21 on it. I gave that console to my brother when I upgraded to the Series X, but he has played The Show 22 on it this year. I'm fairly certain that it still has stadium creator.

I'll have to ask him about it again. When he visited me recently, we created a stadium on my PS5, and he wished he had it in his game.
It's good to know the S has it. Thanks!

The S is MUCH weaker than the X. 52 CU's vs 20 CU's. Heck a PS 4 Pro has 18 CU's. A Series S is a very small upgrade over a PS 4 Pro.

Last year I played on PS5, Series S, and PS4. The PS5 version definitely looked and played better than Series S, but the S was at least an upgrade over the base PS4.
I was impressed with the Series S when it came to most other games though. The Gears of War games and pretty much everything else I played on it looked great. I kind of assumed that 21 was poorly optimized for the Series S since it was the first year on that platform.

Yeah, I meant to add it definitely is the better value, since it is as cheap if not cheaper than most PS4's. Plus it is considered "next gen" and has higher and faster Memory bandwidth. Also the internal storage is much faster with the SSD. And if playing at 1440p or below at 60 fps is all someone needs then I would go with the S. But if you game at 4K the X is worth the extra money. Way more powerful, and does not give game makers a headache like the S. I could see support for the S falling off sooner rather than later.
