Unless there's a catastrophic shift in the way the game is played this is correct. Nobody can stay healthy to play every game anymore, at least not many. Players strike out ALOT!!! so a batting average over .300 means you're in a small percentile. Even the Nolan Ryan strikeout record, there are so many pitchers who can get to the 6th inning and that's it. What kills me about this is players nowadays are supposedly superior athletes but they can't seem to handle the same rigors that the players of the past could.

You don't have to take my word for it. You can see his game logs on baseball reference for all the times he was pulled early. The streak would have ended on August 7, 1989 if the Orioles hadn't manipulated it. You can look it up.

Henderson's 130 stolen bases in a career as well as his lifetime total because it's now a big deal when someone steals 30 in a season.
I used to love watching him and Vince Coleman in the 80s. Those 2 were on another level stealing bases. Now 30 steals is elite. Game has changed a lot for sure
Not that I like to brag, but I was in Busch Stadium when Lou Brock set the records that Henderson eventually broke. I was fairly young at the time but i was there.

Look, Cal was a great player, he was incredibly durable and he definitely deserves his "Iron Man" moniker. But, he had help from management to maintain the Streak. You can't simply ignore history that you find inconvenient.

If anyone is backpedaling, it's you. You implied that there were all these incidents of "roster manipulation" and Ripken coming in for one AB to preserve the streak because he could barely walk. You came up with one example.
