A Reason To Be Optimistic

With SDS not tweaking hitting or pitching this year is it possible that we will see significant gameplay engine overhauls for 23
-
no......my bet is they combine these "stats of hitting" (.800 on perfect perfects, etc). Online and Offline....which play completely differently. They need to make them consistent, and preferably the offline version of hitting. Online is a [censored] shoot

Yeah I heard that online play is an absolute dumpster fire I really only play franchise and conquest

They specifically don't, you can see the split of offline and online in the results they post

Remove arcade attributes and the hitting won’t be as much of a dice roll, but for some reason SDS and the player base feel the need to have these ridiculous attributes on the cards.

Would much rather go back to 16 and 17’s overall where it was just 99. Played way much better.

There’s not just one button to push that says “Fix Hitting”. There are (tens of?) thousands of sliders that need to be adjusted and each change here requires a compensating adjustment there. I don’t envy the designers trying to fine-tune every little detail.

Haha!!! Sorry but this is SDS you are talking about. It will be the same old broken gameplay (including hitting, pitching and fielding) with a lot of fresh marketing hype around new fielding animations and batting stances that don't mean anything. However, there will be 200 new packs to buy with over 1 million new cards in the game!!!

A lot of issues with gameplay that could be easily fixed if they wanted, but as others have said ….125 attributes messes up a lot of things.

this may be the issue, I know hitting has been rough for a few years.I assume its likely difficult to balance, because pitching doesn't need to be undervalued. The dice roll wouldn't necessarily be bad if it gave higher chance to good swings, its the awful swings being seemingly more rewarding than good swings.

The RNG has to factor in 100+ h/9 against 100+ contact and power it completely f*cks with it. It’s not a coincidence hitting has been rough for a few years, outside of immortals they didn’t really introduce 100+ attributes until ‘19 and we all know what that lead to.

lol yep, that's when hitting really went down. As of now I would say that pitching is too strong. Maybe it is the 125 stat cap.

Refreshing to see a post with a reasonable take.
I imagine programming realistic baseball physics into a video game is a bit more difficult than assembling a ham sandwich, yet there doesn’t seem to be much appreciation of that in this “community.”
If only the devs executed their job with the same laser precision and garnered the same perfect results that the rest of us bless the world with in the course of our own professions…

Ahh dang. I was hoping for that fix the hitting push the button stream.
