J-Rod’s new contract
-
The report I read said it could be worth as much as $400m with incentives.

definitely getting supercharged.
Supercharged for signing a contract?
-
I don’t see why they would supercharge for a contract. His bank account is already supercharged.
I like the deal for both parties.

Thats why, supercharge him for the day for getting his bank account supercharged. I think its a good deal as well.

Taking a page out of AA's book. Lock up those young studs earlier.

14 years 210 million, definitely getting supercharged.
Good deal or bad deal? Thoughts?
It's good for SEA.
-
Time will tell I guess. Generally I think it’s better on the players end. Tatis definatly got the better end of his deal. Wander is still up in the air. It’s always risky for a team to pay a guy based on potential. That’s why the nfl now has a rookie pay scale, don’t wanna get stuck with a Jamarcus Russell or Ryan leaf situation.

Jamarcus Russell
Jamarcus Russell LMAO. Haven't heard that name in long time wow what a bust. Some ppl don't have running water for crying out loud.

Why guys sign for so many years is puzzling.
Seattle most likely won't win ish, but grab that bag! -
So far in terms of MLB, most of the misses on early rookie signings have been on the lower end, the Jon Singleton's and Scott Kingery's of the world, wonder what happens when one mega-deal finally looks bad

How much do you think the Juan Soto situation played into this signing?.

Unsure, probably somewhat.
Honestly, and this is not anything other then my musings, I wonder if inflation is a reason teams are rushing to sign long-term, they see it as a much cheaper alternative down the road.

I think inflation is definitely a factor, as I have said about the Micheal Harris signing, when it hits what would be his free agency year this is going to be well below what he could get if he stays on this current trajectory.

Seattle most likely won't win ish, but grab that bag!In 14 years we might look back and say that he was the next Trout and that he left money on the table. But he could have a 13-year-long sophomore slump and this deal will still make his great-great grandchildren wealthy. This contract could reach 4-hundo, so he's going to be just fine.
Honestly, the money quickly becomes a status and ego thing at a certain point. Let's say he makes $210m throughout his whole career, but he could potentially have had the numbers to make, say, $450m. Honestly, what's the difference other than ego? Obviously the difference is $240m, but my point is... would someone's lifestyle change even a tiny bit if they earn $210m vs. $450m? He's going to be rich beyond any of our wildest imaginations. Even if he had twice that much money, it wouldn't change all the opportunities and newfound luxuries.

Acuna took some flak for the deal that he signed, so idk

Any team paying these players this early in a contract is taking unnecessary risks. They have that player for seven years to make these decisions. I’ve seen a lot more players start a career hot then get injured, or forget how to hit the I can count.

Fair enough, but I do think they left enough money on the table in incentives to motivate him.
