Anyone that actually watched him pitch knows he shouldn’t have it, but I’ll take it. I think this is a makeup for last year.
You’re right, it’s probably because of everyone disappointment last year.
I have been similarly disappointed that Bob Gibson (I think introduced in The Show 20), is not very effective (I usually have gotten lit up when trying to use him in H2H and hardly ever encountered any opponents using him). But he was a monster and also deserves that artificial outlier velocity. After all, does anyone really think oldtimers like Walter Johnson, Lefty Grove and Bob Feller threw over 100 mph? No, but they got juiced up to account for the fact that they were dominant pitchers in their time. But Pedro and Gibson were similarly dominant, so they should get it as well. Of course this argument would end up leading to the 102 mph being so commonplace, that it would apply to over half the 99ovr pitchers.
I like Gibson too, for some reason I thought he had a SS card in 19, but you are probably right. Anyway, I agree with you, as I have said in the past, the outlier quirk is no longer an actual outlier.

More importantly the mantle card has 77 contact. Disrespectful
He does??? Why do they keep doing this ??
They seem to keep the contact low vs. righties. I noticed this earlier. I don’t know why they didn’t put a 99 in the boss pack. Everyone is going to pick Pedro just because he has outlier, at least the 99 Mantle would make for another usable choice. I’m not knocking on Bench or Ripken, they are just known to have swings that make them hard to use for a lot of people.
Exactly. I’m taking Pedro and buying Cal or vice versa. They can keep Bench I don’t even really want him. He would just sit on the bench anyway. Catch what I did there? Oh I did it again. Lol Plus I’m pretty much done with all collections. Just gotta get these few FOTF cards and I get Cutch. Then I’ll be done worrying about flipping cards and getting every card unless they do another collection.
Not if,when. Cutch is only #2. There will be 2 or 3 more
I had enough with collections. I know they had four last year, and they are helping get cards to people, even giving them away. Did they say 2 or 3 more are coming? I know you were probably just estimating, but I just want to make sure I didn’t miss something.
Guess, based on last year.
they did make references to more collections coming.offhand comments mostlyOkay, thanks. I agree we will get more. I don’t think three more. They couldn’t possibly make a card much better than McCutchen. Kershaw wasn’t received well as a collection, though I love using his cards. I’m not sure we would be seeing another pitcher; however, we don’t really know what’s coming.

Give me a Retro Finest Aroldis.
Sid Finch with a 168 mph fastball lol

Would a retro finest Aroldis really make him much better though other than the card art? I fell like relievers getting the retro finest boost isn't all that necessary because they already have max per/9s anyway. Idk I would rather them spread RP's out more in card series just for collection purposes

Yeah good point, I don't really care if he's a Retro Finest, just looking for any top-shelf Aroldis.

99 Aroldis is always top shelf. He and Billy Wagner are always the best lefty relievers

Bob Feller played in MLB from 1936-1956. Did they actually have radar guns that could accurately measure pitch speed in 1956 or earlier?
-
No no radar guns. He did out throw a motorcycle going 100 and if you watch the Movie “Fastball” it explains how they measured his speed and like I said he is credited with throwing over 100mph. I’ll see if I can find the reference

Sorry, I thought I was editting my original post but it showed up as a 'quote' of my post. Actually I think Gibson was introduced in 2018 as a 'Legend' (remember the ones where you needed to collect bajillions of hats and jerseys). I can't remember if I unlocked him in that version of the game (I only had a few, but can't remember which ones). But since MLBTS2019, it seems he has been underwhelming.

Yeah, I remember the game; but I didn’t get any of those top legends. I think they called them “immortals” or something like that. I agree that he didn’t match up to the other top pitchers in the game. Especially as they added more of them in.

[censored], that was interesting and entertaining! Hard to say because the motorcycle speedometer could be off by 5-10% and the delay between him passing Feller and the ball release is a variable. I don't don't doubt that Feller was throwing 95+ mph, but certainly unlikely to be 102 mph as depicted in the video game. One other note: Feller seems to be able to hit that little target with ease - in reality (or at least in the game) not so much.....
Thanks! -

Thanks!Yeah I don’t think throwing a baseball while a motorcycle goes past you is the most accurate way to clock someone’s fastball. Lol
