I don't really care since I can't hit with Mantle ever, but how tone deaf is SDS?

"Hey guys, I know there was a lot of community backlash to the watered-down Griffey we released. What can we do to win back public opinion?

"I've got it! Let's release a watered-down Mantle to pair with the watered-down Griffey!"

    "Genius!!"

I think the original plan was to release these versions of the cards to let people use Griffey and Mantle earlier in the year but it just didn't go over well. Saving those guys until after the postseason clearly works to have people stick around into the winter months. I think these versions were meant as a way just to give people the Griffey and Mantle that they have begged for before November for the past 4 years. And Griffey is pretty irrelevant to Mantle's release. All this is pre-scheduled

All good, reasonable points. However, maybe all of it shouldn't be completely pre-planned.

Maybe have a little flexibility and be more responsive to your customers.

Yeah, I agree with you, a little more flexibility and transparency would go along way. I do believe after reading @the_dragon1912 post about Griffey that it was intended to be part 1 of a bigger program. They should have labeled him a 95 (even a 97) and the backlash wouldn't so bad. Nobody was upset about the Takashi 97 Babe which is a great card but hardly endgame, because we all know it's not the last card for him. I really can't see this being the final Griffey or Mantle but I've been wrong many times.

Takashi Babe. Love that card still because I love his swing and his hitting isn't too bad.
Can't wait to smash some HR's with his 99. If I had to guess he's gonna be part of extreme lol.
Actually I figure Chipper will be a part of it tbh.

I know most of us are probably thinking that this 98 Mantle won’t be very good. I was looking at the attributes of the 98 overall FS cards from the Tool Box pack, and if they can make him something like that I would gladly use him.
