Can anyone confirm this actually works? Doesn’t make sense that just renaming an input would effect anything other than the name of the input...
I don't believe re-naming the input will do anything at all; changing the name isn't going to effect the hardware.
OP: modern tvs that have gamers in mind, have great input lag times. A 2012 tv ain't it though.

So I just caught wind of this trick. Besides game mode obviously, renaming HDMI input to PC input will shave you ms. 10-15ms? I’m not exactly tech savvy and didn’t know this was an option. 1) source on remote 2)tools over HDMI input 3) edit name 4) rename HDMI1 or whatever HDMI you play on to PC
I’m having a crappy RS. Need to eliminate as much ms as possible to compete with the monitor players. Hope this helps someone out there.
Tv is 2012 LED ES7500 series
This does work. But if im not mistaken it makes graphics look way worse correct?

It does work. It disables all post processing. I've been doing it for years as I'm also an avid iracer and I use 3 40 inch TV's as PC monitors.

@TeflonDon_237 haven’t played yet since learning this morning but there is a slight dullness to it. It doesn’t bother me tho IMO performance over graphic value. I did navigate the menu’s for a brief second and no lie, I could feel the controller have more “snap” reaction then before.
-
Hmmm I’m gonna have to try this out when I get home then

@knucklecutter just curious, what good racing game is out there? I use to love them gran turismo’s when I was a teenager, haven’t played a racing game in years. Only game I play on PS4 is the show

There's a handful of good racing sims on PC, not so much on console.

Game will still lag it's not your TV or monitor. Everytime I pitch the ball floats or freezes in the air

Thanks. Still dinner time at my house. Got a couple more hours until the kids are asleep

So I did the rename input to pc today. I hit the home button on my tv remote, scrolled over to my HDMI input, hit the up arrow to edit, and then scrolled through the naming options and changed it from playstation 4 to PC. Right away the screen brightness dimmed down a bit which doesn’t bother me, but I think it really helps. Played a couple games against the cpu on all star and HoF and I’m squaring the ball up more. Dunno if I’m just kinda in a zone today or if it really made a difference but I think it did

Also, if you have a PS4 Pro, under the Settings in game for Video, choose the Faster option.

I thought that only helps with frame rates? Not input lag? Or am I wrong?

On a related note, do I want my 4K HDR tv on HDMI 2.0 input with my PS4 (not pro) or do I want it on HDMI 1.4?
