I can see using them for BR as there is a mixture of different levels of pitchers; but what advantage, other than to be like the 'cool' kids, is there to using one in an Event that only allows Common pitchers?

Wouldn't any pitcher you use in an event be considered an opener?

They’re probably only pitching one inning in an event anyway so who cares who starts the game if they’re all pitching the same amount?

So many good relievers to choose from with different pitch selection. Who really wants to go up against Kenley Jansens cutter, or Romos slider?

Use openers in ranked because you can save your good pitching for better opponents.
