Interesting surprise in RTTS

When I continued a RTTS from last year's game, and played my first appearance in the new game, my player was using the gold "The GOAT" bat in game. When the file moved over, all of the equipment from last year's game disappeared (as expected) and my new equipment wasn't equipped (again, as expected). Neither last year nor this year have I earned "The GOAT" bat skin.
