Honestly though, Babe is a pretty big fan favorite. For those of you screaming "L"....who did you really expect? Or who did you think it should be? Prime Matsui?
Someone who wasn’t another lefty 97ovr first baseman. If they were dead set on Ruth, it needed to be the 99 Ruth.
He's not a first basemen he's a primary outfielder who will maybe have 1B as secondary
If you are viewing him as a 1B primary that's on you
And his silver fielding in the outfield isn't even bad normally people just tend to treat any outfielder that isn't Buxton/Griffey/Mays/Mantle/Trout level fielding as Nelson Cruz. As long as dives are still broken silver fielding in the outfield is more than fine. We all know the drill though, when they release another Takashi card via headliner or Event reward next week someone will come here and whine that they paid 500k for Maddux
100% I like how they have done this basicly of you want to do a collection right away it's gonna cost you but if you are patience you will get it done for nothing.
Can't wait for the freak out on Friday when to get the big collection done you will need 90% of the cards in the game and the market shoots up and people saying it's a money grab even though you could wait likely just a couple weeks and get ot dome
You are changing the argument. The argument isn’t the cost of the collection, it’s that the reward the online community (correctly) views Ruth as a lefty first baseman in a collection that already includes a lefty first baseman at the same overall.
I mean if this community of baseball fans is viewing Babe Ruth as a first basement I am going to question their knowledge and understanding of the game. Babe Ruth is a Primary outfielder with 2241 games played in the out field, 163 games as a pitcher and 33 games at 1st base.
In fact Babe Ruth played more games in CF at 74 games then he did at 1st base in 33 games
If this community views him as a 1st basemen then that is on the community an not SDS

Not disagreeing with your historical walkthrough, but the devs set him up this way. Very similar to how Schwarbs was everybody's catcher last year, right?
So it IS on SDS, because they could just take 1B secondary away from him.

Yeah but frank was a very good card early game, and you had to get him for Randy. Silly argument. This turns Delgado into a 140k bench bat.
It’s not a direct comparison but is any card really worth locking in a million plus stubs?
You’re just paying for the name in most cases. Otherwise all of these Future Stars dropping this week will basically play just as well as any other card.
Unless it's 99 LS Randy...no other card plays like that, or is likely to all year long...

I'd like to see it as well. So long as his fielding is average and his speed is something north of Stanton -- really, SDS, TWELVE speed?! -- take away the 1B secondary. Do it, SDS, we dare you.
(Selfishly just want to see the community implode when that happens.)

He’s basically the only exception and a big reason to go along with yours is that you need 4-5 starting pitchers.
Anyone else isn’t even close to a 1mil+ worthy price.
