How do you convince yourself to play ranked?

I stared at my DD team for a while, thinking of how entering a ranked match will feel like playing a virtual slot machine. We all know the story by now, so click back on your browser if you don’t want to read another post complaining about the hitting.
Considering the circumstances, I have nothing better to do so away we go. My opponents CAP is named Makeme Aburrito. Hilarious. He’s 22-24, I’m 13-5. Optimistic thoughts.
A change up right down the middle to Henderson, good/good line out to center field. Fastball to my CAP with 90+ contact, good/squared line out to left field.
Dashboard turn off ps4. Can’t play a single inning of this right now. It’s just not fun at all, if I want to gamble I’ll play a casino game online. I want more control over the outcome of the at bat. Plain and simple. But each year the outcome of at bats appears more random.
What keeps us coming back to this game every year?
